Zelda: Link Between Worlds or Pokemon?

#1melchiahdimPosted 12/14/2013 2:08:56 PM
My budget is tight, but I can afford one game right now. Just can't decide which one to buy. I intended to buy Pokemon weeks ago but bills got in the way.

Zelda never disappoints me, but I haven't really got into a Pokemon game since Heartgold and Soulsilver. Black and White just didn't click with me. But X and Y look very good from what I've seen.

Just can't decide....

You probably answered your own question. Even though X and Y might be an improved experience you said it yourself that you really can't go wrong with Zelda, so choose that instead, especially since you've had less positive experiences with Pokemon.

Plus imo A Link Between Worlds is probably the best 3DS game out so far, and I've played a lot of 3DS games, including all the must haves.

Zelda is amazing, but honestly, Pokemon. I haven't enjoyed a Pokemon game since Gold/Silver really (despite playing all of them except for the fifth gen), but I *loved* Y. I have 160 hours in it right now, beat the game at around 100 hours and then trained Pokemon for online battling/battling with friends with the much easier ways implemented of competitive play in these titles (which I never cared about before this game).

A lot of people dislike the EXP Share, but I don't think they really grasp what the point of it seemed to be. In all of the other Pokemon games that I've played, you were pretty much stuck leveling up the same Pokemon the entire game since it was so tedious to level and have a properly trained team of six. With this game, not only can you have a full team much easier, it also allows you to constantly switch out team members and incorporate new ones without much hassle, giving much more freedom and choice within the game. In old titles, once you picked your six you pretty much stuck with them due to the exp system and the extreme grind of it, but now you can play however you want, and I think a lot of people are still doing the "get six, don't ever switch out" method and thinking the game is way too easy due to this. Which is fine, but I must say, the way I played this game made it amazing.

Not much to do after you beat the game, though, despite me putting 60 hours into breeding/online/friends. Most of the content ends with the end credits.

Zelda is amazing, but frankly, it's more of a reimagining of ALttP than a new game, so between these two, I'd recommend Pokemon and to grab Zelda whenever you get the chance.
