I see Nintendo going handheld only the next gen

With recent news that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare won't be coming to Wii U, just shows how 3rd parties have really abandoned the console. I almost pulled the trigger on one, dodged a big bullet there.

It's sad really, with this screw up Nintendo will either re-think their whole "innovation" stratagem or just go handhelds-only. Let's be honest here, gamers don't want gimmicks, playing with a regular controller is just FINE. The Wii had horrible controls IMO, I'd rather just hold a regular controller, none of those motion controls or sixaxis or whatever. The evidence is right there, Wii U, the screw up of the gen.

No longer will Nintendo be able to release underpowered gimmicky consoles and still thrive. I know it seems like I'm just badmouthing Nintendo, but we should actually be happy about this because then Nintendo HAS to improve, so we can expect more from their products. This is the slap in the face Nintendo needed and I don't think even the most hardcore of Nintendo fans should really be sad about how things turned out, things can only go forward from here on in.

-CoD announcement doesn't mean anything
-It's not only Wii U's controller fault (Though I do agree that controls were horrible in Wii and no one likes gimmicks)

Wait, so because the next Call of Duty isn't coming out on Wii U, you say that means Nintendo will definitely be going handheld only next gen?

That makes absolutely zero sense.

At least then we'll get GBA games on another portable.

What's going to happen next gen is that more western 3rd parties are going to start developing for the DS3 because its tech (more than likely a microsized Wii U essentially) being strong enough for games to be ported over from the PX1 and downported from the PS5/X4. The kicker here is that the DS3 and the Wii 3 will be developed on the same platform, akin to the iPod and iPad on the iOS. So it will require next to no resources to create a Wii 3 version along with the DS3 version because creating a game for the NintendOS will work on both systems and you can just increase the resolution settings akin to a PC game on the home console. So essentially, the next home console will be riding along the success of the next handheld and will easily get 3rd party support with no problems.

I have to give it the team for coming up with such a forward thinking plan with the Wii U.

You've heard it here first, folks.

Nintendo is abandoning the console market due to not getting a yearly EA release.

The one lesson I want Nintendo to take away from this gen is that you need to listen to what third parties want. If they learn that, then they can stay in the console market.
