Instag8or's Hotlap Challenge- Rd.28: Tough Trucks

#1Instag8orPosted 4/28/2012 12:46:19 AM
For those unfamiliar with the concept, the Hotlap Challenge is the Forza equivalent to Time Attack racing, where it's just you versus the clock versus everyone else's best single lap time.

This week's Challenge is in uncharted territory: Full sized Pick Up Trucks tackle the dragstrip and the cobblestones. A Class, 550 PI Trucks on the 1/2 mile dragstrip of the Top Gear Test Track, then on the twisty cobblestone streets of the Positano Full Circuit, with the best combined time taking the top honors.

Tuning, upgrades, and swaps are permitted in this week's HLC.

Car: Dodge Ram/Ford F150 Raptor/GMC Syclone/Saleen S331 Supercab
Class:A/550 PI
Track: Top Gear 1/2 Mile Dragstrip + Positano Full Circuit
Tuning: YES
Upgrades: YES
Swaps: YES
Cheats, err Assists: Sure

"Clean" laps only, /!\ laps do not count.

Please post your full time, as it can come down to .001, and even then there have been ties in the past.
Please be honest with your time and tidiness of the lap.

I assume that we aren't allowed to tune the truck between the tracks.

I think we are. A truck will be useless enough on Positano. A truck on drag slicks will be even worse.

dear instag80rs, thanks for making these threads. I just got back into playing this game, and I hope you keep these challenges going

do you ever make brand-specific challenges? Mitsu vs Subaru, for example? Or even some cool race ones like Corvettes vs Vipers?

cheers

Since there is no way to police tuning between the two tracks, it is allowed. If I had built a locked 'spec tune'. and made this a one truck challenge... just be glad I didn't do that ;-)

Thanks and welcome aboard =-)

To answer your Q, yes I do. My mission is to constantly mix things up. One theme is to pit an iconic classic against a fairly mundane car (such as the Ferrari 250 GTO-v-Ford Focus RS or Hemi Cuda-v-Honda Civic) Another is to take two favorite makes of Challenge regulars and pair them up against each other (BMW-v-Corvette)

Another reoccurring theme is to tie in to real world racing. The annual Sebring HLCs are a good example of this.

All I can say is stay tuned, as every week I do my best to make sure it is nothing like what we did the week before.

Syclone
Drag Time: 0:18.317
Track Time: 1:07.209
Total: 1:25.526

I put up a quicker drag time in the RAM by about 3/10ths, but the Syclone was over a second faster on Positano.

I wish there was a way I could say "No", but I can't, so yes you can switch parts. I wish I had thought to build four locked tunes, one for each Truck... but I failed to take that into consideration.
