Auction House stupidity.

#1TheBlueStigPosted 7/8/2013 1:00:52 PM
Is it really necessary for people to try to "rule the auction house" so much that they'll pay more than the retail price for a car just to stop other people from getting that car?

Shelby Cobra AC 427, retails for 1.5 Million, 5 copies up at once all 100% stock with no custom paintjobs, all with a starting bid at 1.2 million in the auction house with a buyout of 1.7 million.

One person hit the buyout on all 5 cars, paid out an extra million just to own all 5 Cobras....

What.....the......F***!?!?!?!?!

The same kind of stupid s*** has happened over and over with pretty much every popular car in the game.

Yeah, that's why I got out of the AH once I made my money.

Can you even find good deals on the AH any more?

I dislike Forza's reward systems, and I'm even more wary of FM5 since they've removed the Auction House. I don't find Forza 4's event list very fun to grind for so little reward.

The level system that rewards your choice of cars is good, but let people also win cars from championships like they could in FM1 and FM2.

Although hopefully not too close to FM1's system where cars you hadn't won were locked out - it's pretty terrible having to do a race series just to unlock the 240SX. I did like the selection of cars it gave you though, most of them were good for another championship, but then on the other hand it sort of tramlined the career because it was too tight on cash to deviate from using the gift cars, unless you did a bit of grinding.

Bolded part = massive mistake.

I saved at least 40 million so far just by finding cheap cars on the auction house, and made more than 50 million by selling paints on the auction house.

If they don't want people making that much money, or saving that much money, then they should increase the piddly amount they give us for winning races, high 4 or low 5 digit prizes but up yo 8 digit prices for the cars required by the achievements, lopsided payouts much???

Exactly why I'm not buying FM5 at launch. I'll wait for people to report on what the in-game economy is like (as well as a host of other things) before I buy it.

You can still get a good deal once in a while. I bought one of the R1 acuras that goes for 2.5 million in the game store for 340,000 this morning. But you still can't find a Testa Rossa for under retail for some reason. I'm really not sure what the point is, or who's buying them. Even if they're upgraded, it's not exactly a tough task to get affinity to level 5 for free upgrades.

Anywho, I actually did like the reward system in this one where you get cars after each level. But I wish it went higher, since I was level 50 way before I finished World Tour (some event thrown in there). The cash bonuses are still nice though.

I'm surprised at them removing the auction house. It was one of the most popular areas of the game. I suppose that means that some people might have to learn how to race on the game now rather than waste their life using nothing but the Auction House to make money that they won't use to race.

If there was two things I liked about money in the Forza games was the way it rewarded difficulty. I never bothered to learn how to use Manual or driving without assists on other games be cause this was the first series that I played that actually rewarded you for learning proper driving skills on the game.

The other being the Prize Car system from this. I like being able to choose what car I get from levelling up. I agree with what Glitch says, it would be nice to earn cars from winning championships too. I hope they find a way to use both systems in FM5 and if they do, they manage to integrate it without offering the same cars repeatedly.

^This. I just don't want to have to money grind. Hell, make it like GT4 where there was a race you could do that, every time you win it, gives you a car that you can sell for a few hundred thousand credits. You still have to grind for big-bucks cars, but at least you're getting around 300k per race, as opposed to 5 or 6k. I swear, though, I did get immensely tired of lapping Costi de Amalfi :)

What the hell is it with the damn Cobra?

Every single f***ing time some halfwitted little tweaker has just GOTTA bid it up past the retail price even though it's completely stock with no paintjob. If there's even a mediocre paintjob on it (with no buyout) the price gets stupid, FAST.

If they're willing to pay that much why not just buy it from the damn dealership?
