They did as a radio drama.

@number

The radio drama uses the ending where Maria goes after Alucard, and in the radio drama they end up living together (so he didn't go to sleep at least not until after Maria died most likly,). Also it should be noted the Radio drama was produced by IGA so in his mind it's part of the timeline.

I'd assume because IGA doesn't want to use the same characters consecutively. I can only guess Soma got two games so close together because he really wanted to finish that story arc. We're lucky he was playable in DoS.

Also a single person owns the rights to the Alucard copyright. They might have had issues getting said copyright. These things cost money.

With the addendum that both 64's and CotM have been reinstated since. Only Legends, the phone game and the new 360 game are non-canon to the main series.

Considering all the references we've been getting that the Lecarde/Ricardo line are their descendants, it most likely is canon.

The reason why there's not going to be another Alucard game is because there almost was a new Alucard game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcI6j0Y24FM

But then Konami effectively burned their bridges, murdered the Alucard plan in a dark alley, and re-directed all of their resources and advertising into Lords of Shadow

(read the part where Cox talks about "Japan's pitch")
