Kvothe69Posted 5/24/2012 4:30:35 AM | Whats stronger, the hearts or the mods? for example: is 3 stars in melee better than a +1 melee combo mod? i want a list of whats better for example: 1. 1 heart 2. 2 hearts 3. +1 mod for melee or ranged attack 4. 3 hearts (i dont think thats actually right)
i know this might be different for different weapons and if thats the case can you do it for the crusader blade. --- 3ds friend code: 1719-3788-1911 add me kid icarus online name: Mongoose |
InhaledCornPosted 5/24/2012 4:41:05 AM | Every damage modifier essentially adds one extra star's-worth of damage when you perform the type of attack it adds the boost to.
Hearts are currency. Stars are damage boosters. Just sayin'.
So, someone with 5R stars but +4 Dash Charge Shot will do more damage in Dash Charged Shots than someone with 6R stars and no Dash Charge Shot modifier. However, the 6R stars add the boost to all shot types, so, if the 5R star weapon has no other shot-damage modifiers, the 6R stars will do more overall damage.
The type of shot modifier you should aim for depends on the weapon. Bows and Cannons like Dash Charged Shot boosts. Staves and most Clubs like Standing Charged Shot boosts. More Melee-oriented weapons, like the Samurai Blade and Taurus Arm, appreciate +Melee Combo and +Melee Dash Attack.
Many Palms, Twinbellows Cannon, and Aurum Blade like Dash Continuous Fire boosts, and the Hedgehog Claws and Compact Arm like Standing Continuous Fire boosts.
You need to know your weapon in order to make the most value-to-damage efficient one you can. --- 3DS FC: 2578-3118-6645 Working on Kid Icarus: Uprising 9.0 Run. Current progress: 1-17, 20. |

DunnoBroPosted 5/24/2012 6:29:25 AM | Essentially, though I heard somewhere specific modifiers add more than general ones. I.e Forward Dash Shot + vs Dash Shot + --- 3DS FC: 3308-4781-6052 Kid Icarus: Uprising |
The_PupPosted 5/24/2012 6:30:37 AM | Pretty much. Mods for specific attacks are just like extra stars. |
Kvothe69 (Topic Creator) Posted 5/24/2012 6:31:24 AM | oh really? i guess i should go for more foward dash then dash shot then... ill have to go look that up --- 3ds friend code: 1719-3788-1911 add me kid icarus online name: Mongoose |

I.e Forward Dash Shot + vs Dash Shot + This is not true. I've done extensive tests, and I can safely say that they add the same amount of damage. The fwd dash ch is only for fwd dash ch shots, while the other boosts all dash ch shots. Dash ch shot+ adds much more value than fwd dash ch shot+, though. --- KI:U kills: 13,000+ FC: 0216-0883-7959 PM me if you add me. *insert over-used meme here* |
Kvothe69 (Topic Creator) Posted 5/24/2012 6:40:53 AM | oh ok but does 1 star = a +1 mod? --- 3ds friend code: 1719-3788-1911 add me kid icarus online name: Mongoose |
ShadowSlash17Posted 5/24/2012 6:41:02 AM | Kvothe69 posted...i do feel like +1 mods equall more than one star though... The first star on a weapon is weaker than the rest, so having 1 melee star on a weapon would do slightly less damage in a melee combo than one with melee combo+1. Mods add slightly(it's almost unnoticeable) more damage than stars(ex. 4 melee stars<melee combo+4), but a star would add damage to all types of attacks in that category(ex. melee stars add melee combo and melee dash attack). --- KI:U kills: 13,000+ FC: 0216-0883-7959 PM me if you add me. *insert over-used meme here* |
