Serious ? about the Ghost Ship Level. (MUST READ)

Perhaps I am wrong in some way for my views on this subject. Perhaps I am missing some strange piece of information everyone else has.... But why WHY do players ALWAYS insist on going through the Promenade Deck on the way to the bridge, when the path through the Cafeteria is so much faster and SAFER? (Not to mention ammo conserving) SURE if you want to 100% the level the Promenade is essential, but so are the underwater areas that most people skip over on the way to the Casino portion. Like I said maybe I am ignorant of something important collected by way of the Promenade Deck, But if you are not out for a Genocide Bonus, why give the game (What I consider to be) an unfair advantage by wasting all your ammo and suppies taking that route?

Bear in mind that 60%+ of all "Game Overs" are caused by the Scagdead character... So... Common sense says AVOID him.

Let's look at the two routes (Skipping over the underwater areas as most do anyway)

(From the start using roughly estimated numbers)
Going the Cafeteria route:

20 Oozes of normal or bladed type (About 4 of which being shooters)
3 exploding Oozes
3 Weak Scagdead
About 20 Lizardmen
One giant rock dude
a few more Oozes
3 Medium sized rock dudes
3 Zappy Rock dudes with shields
and a few more Oozes

Now.. Let's look at the Promenade Route

(From the start using roughly estimated numbers)
Going the Promenade route:
20 Oozes of normal or bladed type (About 4 of which being shooters)
3 exploding Oozes
3 Weak Scagdead
a few more Oozes
About 20 Lizardmen
One giant rock dude
about 30 more Oozes and FOUR high level Scagdead
And whatever else is in store on this route...

I don't recall how much extra area that is here because I avoid this route because my partner (Or sometimes I) Do not make it beyond this point. This is the most challenging area in the ENTIRE game BAR NONE. WHY if you are trying to conserve ammo and survive would you go this way? You run yourself out of ammo, AND give the game the additional opportunities to "One Hit Kill" you, as if the 3 weak Scagdead in the Casino and 5 High level Scagdead on the Deck were not enough opportunities

Someone help me to understand.

dont feel bad.people i have played with have done the same thing. i take the single most direct route to get to the end.the underwater parts are important because there is a key that is crucially needed.my problem is getting there and actually winning the boss fights with enough ammo and grenades.personally i think i would have a fighting chance if i had a level 50 P90 and MP5 machine gun.i came close to beating it by myself but feel it should go quicker with 2 people.wish it could be 4 people.then the can of "whoop ass" would be seriously open

This. Plus, I hate swimming in this game so I avoid it when I can.

Not sure why everyone goes down the promenade but maybe because most of us are so familiar with it.

The 50+ or so times ive beaten it, I've probably gone through the cafeteria only a few times so I'm not very familiar with it. The promenade is very much tougher and the skagdeads are the cause of most gameovers but it is funner and I know where everything is.

I've gone through the Solaris only a few times as well but never underwater before the casino. I didn't even know that was a route.

The bridge is the one i always try to avoid if possible. It's dark and the constant ooze and scarm spawns are just annoying.

^^^^^ thats why you take a swim and get that crucial key.that way when you get to the bridge you just bypass all the enemies and go straight for the door, then hit the 2 rooms for ammo and whatnot before getting in the elevator
