Framerate's even better if you turn the 3D off. It doubles it, so there's that.

The framerate is the same, both 3D on/off...

Uh...no, it ain't. :3 To achieve a stereoscopic effect (left and right), both images need to have an equivalent framerate - but do achieve that, the processing capabilities need to be cut in half. Hence, as an example, let's say this game has a framerate of 60 normally. When you turn the 3D effect on, it's got in 30 - 30 FPS for each display (left and right).

Honestly...lol, I don't really know what this game's framerate is, or what is the full extent of the 3DS' capabilities. But I do know that much regarding stereoscopic technology, and in-game, it's just barely noticeable when you turn 3D on.

The game lags whether 3D is on or off. You gotta admit, though, that the camera is all over the place and there are a lot of high-poly enemies, so it's no wonder.

1- This.

2- I do actually think its 60fps, because this things smooth.

3 I did notice it drop to 30 during a fight scene with 3D on, but it looks like it could be 60 with it on normally as well.

The perceivable framerate that the eye sees doesn't change from 2D to 3D in this game, so no one is going to see any "improvements" that turning 3D off has internally. Like how the 3DS has a physical resolution of 800x240 for the 3D, but in either 2D or 3D mode you will only ever see an effective 400x240 resolution.

The rate that KH3D appears to be running to the eye is 30 frames per second in 2D AND 3D modes (not including dips). You will not see any difference with 3D off, if you could it would appear to run twice as smooth (Super Street Fighter IV 3D is an example of this, it shows a noticeable improvement in framerate with the 3D off). Also, the framerate dips in KH3D don't go away when you turn the 3D off. Point being, the performance of the game isn't affected by 3D in any way from what I have observed.

And yeah Sparkga makes the game chug somewhat. During extremely heavy enemy encounters the framerate seemed to dip downwards of about 20-25. Sparkga worsened that but it was difficult to tell by how much because the command is so short. I was surprised though that for the majority of the play the game retained a consistent 30fps. Though i'm sure if you did some intensive enemy grouping with more than 8 or so and started spamming flowmotion AND intensive commands then even this demo would start to fall apart performance wise. There's really not all that much in this demo that would make the game chug anyways though. The framerate dips I noticed in the Japanese playthroughs were in later worlds where the areas are much bigger and you have even more intensive moves.

lol. If thats the case then why does MK7, KI:U, MHTriG retain their framerate with both 3D on/off? You must be basing that analogy off of early 3DS titles that some devs didn't utilize the 3D well (like SF/DoA).

I've checked KH 3D closely and compared both framerates with each other, and i've noticed no better performance with 3D off since both ways dip once more dream eaters appear. The rest, Grans has already said upon. :)

Then that just means they cut possible framerate down by half to begin with. Which makes sense, when you think about it.
