I just realized something about Sora's Keyblade... *possible spoilers*

When anyone is talking about the Kingdom Key, they say "the" Keyblade, yet, whenever we hear of anyone else's Keyblade, they never really mention it, or instead say "a Keyblade", the only example I can think of anyone ever calling the KK "a Keyblade" is in The Grid, when CLU says "That weapon you have is called a Keyblade" or something similar to that..

Also, one of the Norts mentioned Sora/Roxas would be a perfect host for a piece of his heart, maybe the Kingdom Key has something to do with forging the X-blade, and Xehanort would prefer that the Kingdom Key be used for his side, isntead of the Lights for that specific reason?

*Looks on how the X-blade is made from two Kingdom Keys*
Sure why not.

"The Keyblade" is the proper name for the actual weapon. Basically you can use Keyblade to refer to it as the weapon itself or use it as way to refer to it as just one of the many keyblades around.

So like in the ceremony when they say "In your hands take this key and if you have the making it's wielder you shall one day be". Now they aren't saying you're going to get that specific keyblade, they're saying one day you'll also be able to the Keyblade. As in the weapon in general not that specific one being used in the ceremony.

So yeah it's basically down to how they want to use the word. They can use it to refer to the weapon in general or use it to refer to a specific keyblade.

Riku was going to be used first until they realized his resistance to the darkness.

I think it has more to do with the fact that back in KH1 and KH2, Sora was (for the most part) the only guy running around with a Keyblade. And off the top of my head, Young Xehanort calls Riku's weapon "the Keyblade" in Symphony of Sorcery.

Huh... don't really remember hearing that, then again I was sleepy as heck going through SoS. @ Hiro, that's true too, it just seems weird that mostly everyone calls the KK "The" Keyblade

It's not just the Kingdom Key. People say "the" Keyblade whenever they're talking about the Keyblade as a legendary figure or a general, long-running institution.

Like people never say "_____ was chosen by a Keyblade." It's always "_____ was chosen by the Keyblade." Whether they're talking about Sora, Roxas, Riku, Aqua, Terra -- whoever.

Hm? Guess I never really paid much attention then... I coulda sworn I always heard "a" Keyblade when referring to anyone else's

During the time of KH, the legends were such that most people believed there was only one Keyblade. We know now that those legends were wrong (Another Side:Another Story showed that even back in the days of KH1), but the habit of referring to Sora's Key as "the Keyblade" has apparently stuck.
