FOE Favorite Food List

#11Chaosmaster00Posted 3/3/2013 2:51:06 PM(edited)
I'm not one to alter my playstyle for any extended period of time just to grind one of my party members, is basically what I'm trying to get at. I got my full power Land, a status-proccing Night, a blinding/ststus-slaying Night, a bulky Fort, and my now-respecced essential elemental Runemaster. My subclassing thus far has been minimal, since I'm not fixing something that isn't broken. :/

Edit: ANYWAYS, getting back on-topic, I tested a few others, and Tusked Crusher (3rd overworld gator) is not infatuated with Happiness Hares or Royal Turkeys, and the Supreme Wings of the first overworld do not have favoritism towards Sakura Trout, but I'm willing to try a Golden Goose next time I can...

Yeah I'm finding that the goats are the best and efficient way of powerleveling. Equip the airship accessories that increase plant drops and rare plant occurrences to stock up on golden stinkshrooms. Use em on the three goats on the map and go crazy. They're very easy to kill, even when golden and net 50k a pop.

It's up to you, but the basic strategy for dealing with random encounters doesn't change that much between different classes and builds. You don't need to fight FOE's or anything where it would require you to fully utilize all your skills. Just walk around and kill some dudes with some powerful attacks and get a whole lot exp.

My subclassing thus far has been minimal, since I'm not fixing something that isn't broken. :/

I assume you just mean you just haven't put points into the subclasses rather than not getting them at all, right? Because you get 5 free skill points just for subclassing.

I could, but he missed out on over 30000 EXP... It's hard to come back from that solo. :/

Not really. Shiny Dream Eater = 50,000 EXP.

I put those 5 points into their respective subclasses, but not much else, if any. Mostly because I needed binds, since I lack a Sniper or Arcanist, so I temporarily subbed them on my Land/Rune, respectively.

50000 - 30000 = 20000

Then he'll be OVERLEVELED by 20000 EXP... which is equally annoying. But thanks for bringing up more obviousness.

So, as far as I can tell, only 4 foods seem to be classified as a food the overworld F.O.E.'s eat that turn them shiny:

Golden Goose (Omnihunter)
Gold Stinkhorn (Dream Eater)
Happiness Hare (Ice Pincer)
Dragon Carp (the birds, Omnihunter, Death Mantis)

The rock faces in world 4, Dinogator, and Bounding Beasts don't seem to have any favorites, though Bounding Beast does eat veggies (but not fruit or mushrooms; just Vegetables).

it seems to me you just use the golden version of whatever food type that particular FOE goes for.
If it's a poison food it will poison them, if it's not it will make them gold

bounding beasts like carrots, the ebony carrot is poisoned so it poisons them
dream eaters like mushrooms, the stinkhorn is not poisoned so they turn gold
the 2nd land mantis like birds, scarlet emu is poisoned so they get poisoned
3rd world mantis likes hares, the happiness hare is not poisoned so they turn gold

etc etc

That's why you use food from other levels to turn those guys shiny, Omnihunters also go for fish, but Dragon Carp is the only one that will turn them shiny, just like any of the giant birds. That's why I listed all the foods and FOE's I know for a fact can be made shiny.

Bounding Beasts are just kinda unlucky in this aspect; only two lands' foods are the type they go after, and both the rare versions of them are poisonous, so they cannot be made shiny, even though they actually will eat food you throw.

Newly confirmed: Golden Goose makes Tusked Crusher, the land 3 gator FOE, shiny.

That said, it appears that only 1 of each type of food (Beast, Veggie, Fish, and Bird) from each land (3, 2, 4, and 1, respectively) turns them shiny, so... just a little side-note perhaps worth adding.
