The Persona 4 announcements were an upgrade of P4 to the Vita and a Persona fighting game for the PS3 and 360 No word on 3DS Persona yet. So we can safely assume it's NOT going to be P4. --- Don't forget to check out my MegaTen themed webcomics at http://www.drunkduck.com/user/Strain42/
Well, that's nice news. So this game may be a whole new installment then. Still, Persona fighting game? Will it be an Eighting game? --- The proof that we're alive is that we endure hardships, suffering and joy... http://wyv.dyndns.org/gradiusTemplate/upload.php?page=1 Nice JP Gradius site.
When a publisher announces a game in no greater detail than "a new installment in a given series for a new system," and then nothing is heard of it for a year, it usually turns out to be vaporware. (Remember the PSP Devil May Cry?) The fact that they announced P4 for VIta only probably means there's no 3DS Persona coming at this point. :( --- "Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest." - Denis Diderot

Atlus may have had something in development for the 3DS at one point, but could have decided to scrap it once they received Vita development kits and concluded that it would be a more suitable platform. Or maybe they just had a concept that never progressed further than pre-production. Happens all the time. A launch of a new system is always accompanied by premature game announcements to make it more attractive to consumers. Case in point, Super Smash Bros Brawl was nothing more than an idea floating around in Iwata's head when it was first announced at E3. Had Sakurai not agreed to make it, it could very well have not been released. We may never know the full story, as it's very unlikely that Atlus will ever officially cancel this game, due to the fact it was never given an official unveiling. It will just be left in eternal limbo.

That seems about par for Smash at this point, as both the Wii U and 3DS titles announced earlier this year aren't presently in development either. As I understand it, Sakurai is still in the process of gathering developers that will eventually create those games. There are more factors that work against MegaTen, too. Such as the name Shin Megami Tensei being slapped onto the sub-series outside of Japan. Thus, in the event Atlus is on board for a console's launch, we may end up with one or two valid listings -- in this case, Devil Survivor -- but also listings such as "Shin Megami Tensei (working title)" that were potentially added in error. Again, in this case, SMT 3DS may just be referring to Overclocked or this still unknown Persona game. The more specific the title, then, the more likely the game is to surface in the not too distant future. Also, for what it's worth, the 3DS is capable of running PS2 ports. Assuming this does surface, it could still very well be a port of P4(G).
what if its this game? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PXK3AW8xvo --- Fighting games look forward to: Tekken Tag 2, KOF XIII Cross-over games are nothing more than diluted junk for tasteless fans
There is a huge chance that, this game is the newly announced fighting game, since BlazBlue was ported to the PSP and the 3DS. Also, the 3DS somehow became the handheld for fighting games. SSF4, BlazBlue, DoA, Tekken, SFxTekken etc. But i would not be surprised, if this is a rhythm game based on the P3 universe (*cough* Theathrythm FF *cough*)... BUT... We are missing something... P2 Eternal Punishment remake... Since P4P is officially on Vita, i don't think they remake P2EP for the PSP... They did not packaged the 2 game together, because it did not fit in a single UMD. Now, the 3DS does not suffer from something like that. It would be great to finally own the 2 game in 1.
And then what of the PSP fanbase? Atlus isn't going to abandon them by not making Eternal Punishment's port readily available. Look at what they're doing with Devil Survivor, for example: Overclocked is on the 3DS, but Devil Survivor 2 is a standard DS game. Not that it isn't possible for IS and EP to also be packaged together on the 3DS, it's just fairly unlikely. There's apparently a rumor going around some Japanese message boards (2ch, specifically) that EP will be released on PSP this November. Granted you can't take rumors all that seriously, but the same person also called P4's port going to Vita next year. So I'm cautiously optimistic.
Something i learned from P2: Rumors are DANGEROUS, but well... it's not unlikely that EP will come out in November. Atlus loves dead/dying systems... But i would not be surprised if, they port the remakes to the 3DS. 3DS is lacking in RPG department. |
