System Transfer and Save File?

#1SmashMan140Posted 6/16/2013 12:48:48 PM
Okay so I got the Animal Crossing 3DS last week and decided to do the system transfer today. From what I've read it should just merge the system data. Well I had to redownload Animal Crossing from the eshop and my save data is gone! Do they save town info separate from the main game file? If so where do I find it? If not is there any way to recover my data! I'm kind of freaking out right now :(

Move the SD card over.

My old card was only 2GB and it doesn't have the software on it. If i move the data from the old sd card to the 4gb one would it be there? >.<

Yes. I just upgraded my 2GB card to a 16GB. Just copy the entire contents of the 2GB to your computer, and then copy those contents to the 16GB card.

Er, well, 4GB in your case.

Okay so I don't see Animal Crossing on here at all. Do I need to redownload it and then it would have my old save data? Like is the save data stored internally?

Crap is my save data all gone then? :( UGH I selected the thing so it wouldn't overwrite the old data in the transfer but I guess it did :( Wow this super sucks...

Wait. Are you saying you have been playing on the ACNL-themed 3DS, and did a system transfer from your old 3DS to the ACNL-themed 3DS? Because if that's the case, I have no idea if that would overwrite the internal data that is saved by ACNL. It shouldn't have modified anything on the 4GB SD card that comes with the ACNL 3DS. though..

I wish I could help more but I don't have experience with this particular situation..

As for the town data, that is saved to the SD card. It does however generate a key that is saved internally to the 3DS to keep people from copying other players' towns.

Yeah I did. When doing the transfer I selected the "Do Not Delete" option but I guess it didn't apply to Animal Crossing? UGH they should have made that clearer :(
