“Thanks for all the help. I just hope I’m not too late.” I’m guessing Redd took Melody to Nook’s shop. Brewster unlocks the door allowing me to run out of the cafe and head straight to main street. - - - “Redd, do you think she bought that?”
“I hope so, Melody. I hope.”
“Why are you even hanging around that girl? You could do so much better.” I roll my eyes at her. She just doesn’t get it… “What!? You know it's true.”
“Shut up before I make you!”
“Jeez...take a chill pill, would you?” We walk up to Tom Nook’s shop and I knock violently on the door. Within a few moments, the door unlocks and I am face to face with him.
“Got any news for me?”
I take a deep breath before answering, “Yes. Brewster might have revealed himself to Roselyn. She’ll find out soon and she might try to stop you.”
“Well, then, get rid of her. We can’t have anyone getting in our way.” Just then, Roselyn jogs up the steps to main street. Oh s***...what do I do now…? Nook is way ahead of me and sees her arriving. “I guess she didn’t find out much. I will be going back into my office now.” Nook backs inside and starts to close the door. I hold my foot in place to prevent him from closing it. “Redd, move your foot, would you?”
“Redd...you don’t want to make me angry, do you?” Roselyn pulls out a pocket knife from her bag and holds it to Melody’s neck. I loosen my grip on her arm to allow Roselyn to hold her against the wall next to the door. My foot is starting to get a bit sore…
Roselyn threatens, “Nook, I want answers and I want them now. Or Melody here is going to pay the price.” Who knew she could be so tough…? I glance over at her long enough to let my guard down. She mouths the words: “I’m sorry.” Nook reaches outside, pulls me in, and locks the door behind us. I guess she finally realized I was on her side the whole time except now, she may be too late...I have already betrayed her. - - - I stare at the locked door separating Melody and I from Redd and Tom Nook. I had barely caught Redd’s little act of defiance before he was pulled in. I guess I was wrong about him...or maybe the fear serum just clouded my judgement…
“Well? I’m waiting.”
“Melody, shut up.”
“Sorry, I pissed you off. I guess I picked the wrong side. Let’s hug and make up. I’ll tell you all about Caleb if you do.” She winks knowingly at me. Damn...she knows my weak spot...I’ve been wanting to find out about Caleb for the longest time but what if this is a trap? I can’t exactly trust her. Correction, I can’t trust anyone in this town, except Brewster. Maybe Brewster will know what to do with Melody.
