Is this board already dying?

MK7 is 4 months old now. I don't know if it's me but it seems that the whole MK7 community (boards, number of online pros, clans, time trials) is much less active than the MKWii community back in 2008. Are you still playing it? Do you play other 3DS games?

This is exactly what I've noticed. I still play, and I have created a leaderboard for time trials in order to get the competitive spirit back to the GameFAQs Mario Kart community. So if you could, please post some of your times in my topic :)

Yeah, it's much slower than the MKDS board was around this time, too.

It's been like this for a while now, but I know a lot of people have moved over to the KI:U board since it came out a week or two ago.

So it's not just an impression. What are the reasons of that? MKDS' online mode sure was successful at the beginning since it was the first DS game featuring online play, and a lot of people already owned a Wii back when MKWii came out, which is not really the case with the 3DS. Maybe MK7's is not as addictive as MKDS and MKWii?

I don't think it has to do with the game. I think it has to do with the system.

The DS and Wii were the two best selling systems of all time, not too mention Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii were both, at one point, bundled with those systems.

On the contrary, the 3DS hasn't done as well as expected, and Mario Kart 7 is not bundled with the system. I think if we give it some time, or wait until the next price drop, the board should do reasonably well eventually, because this game will always be considered a classic for the 3DS.

what is there too discuss?

Featherweights are pretty much the best, maka wuhu has a glitch, so does maka island, blue shells hit people and [people get angry, people try and win people get angry and no-one picks DS luigis mansion.

I also have to add that the MK7 online is slightly more luck-based than the MKW online. There's very little distinction between a 10000 and a 15000, and even less of a distinction between a 15000 and a 20000. It's a toss-up of item luck of who's going to win because, chances are, everyone has very similar lines...

Also, this is a handheld game on a system that has not sold very well. I'd imagine the board will pick up around the holiday season cuz all of these other heavyweight titles like AC and PM should've come out, and people will want to try some of the older titles like MK7 (referring to the people who buy a 3DS when these games come out). But, until then, this board is going to be relatively quiet. Mario Kart 7 is still the third most active 3DS board atm, though.

not bundled with the system.

There are several places around here where you can buy it in a bundle.
