Jakran posted... Well thanks for the input guys, but I just ended up selling the game today. If a game is dull and frustrating from the get go, then It's probably not going to get any better. *sigh* I miss the days when playing a game didn't have to be a frustrating Einstein project..... You know reading your previous topic I don't think this was the game's fault at all. There are still plenty of games that don't revolve around solving basic puzzles just pick a different genre. I mean RPGS are puzzle based to an extent, Sticker star more so than other paper mario games but there is still a crap ton of puzzles in other paper mario games and in RPGs in general. It sounds like a more simplistic/straight forward game work for you. Try SM3DL, SMT:DSO, Sonic Generations, Pokemon, Resident Evil, etc... something not in the RPG genre. I mean SMT:DSO is an RPG but it's tactics RPG so it's not puzzle based it's strategy turn based combat oriented. --- I've got a quote that embodies you perfectly, but it's seventy-three posts long, has a few massive flowcharts, and lots of Xion-KMA to Me

That is true. I think I'm just getting older and can't play games as well as I used to, so I jsut try to stick something familiar that I know I can play. I own SM3DL and NSMB2, which were pretty good, but I'm not into Pokemon anymore. As for SMT:DSO, I don't know a thing about the series, but I don't know if I'd like it. I'm getting somewhat reluctant to try new games due to trying SS and KI:U and ended up regretting it.....

You tried out KI:U and didn't enjoy it? Now that is truly a shame. Anyway, on this game, I've usually enjoyed the puzzles in the PM series. However, one of the problems with SS is that it practically turns the boss battles into puzzles themselves.
SMT:DSO is a great game, with awesome RPG elements and a fantastic story that is usually a staple of the SMT series. While it is a remake of a DS game, Overclocked seemed to play much smoother with the first, and the added challenges and bonus 8th Day Events made it just (no pun intended) ungodly awesome. Game is a very fun and addicting strategy turn-based tactical RPG, and storyline can go in a good amount of ways (without spoiling, it can go 5 different ways at the end of it all, each ending is fairly unique with its own twists). Seriously, you should look it up. If not DSO, then maybe SMT:DS2 on the DS (the standalone sequel, not storyline sequel, mind you, so you can play either and still understand from the get-go). --- Ar Rappy of the PS0 board | Rappy Souls: 1054 | 3DS FC: 1590-4884-9269 Sage of The Denpa Men: They Came By Wave board ( http://i48.tinypic.com/20gmued.jpg )
I think the game got better after the first Chapter, but that's mostly because I got used to the battle mechanics and saw all the nuances about it. But chances are if you really dislike the battle system entirely and the focus on puzzles, I'm sorry to say this one might not be for you. --- Come see my game collection: http://www.backloggery.com/bakonbitz

I honestly tried to like KI:U and did beat solo mode. The problem was I found the weapon fusion to be too complicated(yes, I read the fusion guide on here and it didn't really help much). I learned that to make a strong weapon to beat higher difficulties, you have to grind over and over for weapons, hoping to get the mods you want, then spend weeks/months fusing to (maybe) get your dream weapon. Yeah..........lotsa fun. I dislike grinding in any game and eventually quit playing because I got tired of it. MP wasn't much better because even after months of practice, I was just no good at it and kept losing. Don't get me wrong, KI:U is a great game and one of the best 3DS games released. That's just honestly how I felt when playing it.

I see. Personality, I didn't bother with that stuff. Sure I fused often to try and get stronger weapons, but I went back and played through over and over just to read the story again. Story goes a long way for me, and KI:U probably has the best story I've ever seen in a Nintendo game. In regards to fusing, I generally just wing it. If I see a good weapon, I'll get it, but it's usually not my main focus. |
