From: SlargTheGnome | #011 Okay, WHERE did it say this? I'd like to know what exactly his reasoning behind this is. All it said was that he wouldn't allow the use of original characters. Which I still don't think is an excuse for what they did. They said since they couldn't have original characters they decided not to worry about the plot. There is still plenty they could have done if they actually tried. --- I guess I prefer spasms about my voice to spasms about my ass - Karu

1. The game is short. I clocked in at about 15 hours, and that's with a completed museum and all the HP-Up Hearts. 2. There's no replay value at all. Even SPM had a Pit of 100 Trials. (Two, in fact. AND the Sammer Kingdom!) 3. One of the widely accepted best things about the Paper Mario series is the writing... which there is very little of here. Bowser doesn't even get a single line! 4. The music is mediocre at best. None of it is memorable, except the town theme (which is awful) and the Gooper Blooper fight. 5. The battle system is heavily neutered. This is the barest of bones it could ever possibly be without removing timed hits entirely. TTYD gave us many different ways to perform timed hits (holding the stick, button combos, etc.) and stylish moves, and SPM gave you just tons and tons of different ways to fight things. Everything here is a simple button press, and sometimes a button mash. I don't hate on this game because it tried to be something new. I like new. I'm even one of the very few people that defend SPM. But this game is just... not great. It's bland, it's safe and padded and baby-proofed, and I really have no desire to play it again. It's a lot like the New Super Mario Bros. games: Sure, it's fun, but there's no real substance to it, and once you beat it, there's no real drive to play it again. I replay PM64 because it's simple, yet deep fun, and places like Shy Guy's Toybox are a blast to play through. I replay TTYD because the writing is fantastic and I really like the characters and story. I replay SPM because the basic gameplay is fun, and you can always find a new way to play it. But with Sticker Star, there's no fun areas to revisit, no endearing characters or entertaining writing, and no ways to change how you play. It's just kinda... there. --- A barrel roll would be unnecessary and dangerous.
EvenSpoonier posted... tilaroxs posted...EvenSpoonier posted...Because they wanted a reskin of TTYD, and that's not what this is. That would assume that I want absolutely no innovations or change up in any gameplay areas. I want change, but the in the right areas; for the sake of general improvement or freshness. For example: If they wanted to drop recipes because they didn't want to focus so much on healing items, I would have been fine with that. Unfortunately, they took it a step further and drastically reduced your attack diversity. Look at the topic I linked. --- Quote and Curly Brace for Super Smash Bros 4! Chaosmaster00 posted... ITT: A bunch of people who bought a game without doing their research first. All of this. To add people need to stop deeming only what they like as correct change or correct progression. This is nintendo they have a set demographic, an evolving style and a notoriously unpleased fanbase every game they make has to be researched cause it may or may not go in the direction people want --- Alt to Millamac: The Official Apollo Justice of all boards |
