Less interesting? Dude, you got it all wrong. The PM64 partners never talked AT ALL. TTYD had great characters! Your partners were great and did enough talking for Mario without being stupid. Also, as Chaosmaster00 said... Scarlette. SPM had Tippi and the other playable characters, but they didn't talk much, I guess... And I've never played Sticker Star to see if the characters are bad so I'm just gonna say... Maybe? Put simply, every game has had something that the others lacked. For example, TTYD had the crowd in battle, Stylish moves, multiples of every badge, and tons more! SPM had different gameplay (Not worse exactly, just different), great music (I find some of the music better than TTYD's), a fantastic story, and different characters to play as other than just Mario and a partner. Obviously, every game has had a different story as well. You can't say the games are getting worse just because of the characters. You have to consider everything.

I also meant it in comparison. Obviously, if someone has to talk, but Mario is mute, then it's up to them to do it, but I can't really think of any time in PM64 where a partner said anything hilarious or witty or emotional in comparison to TTYD's partners.

TC, you're obviously looking at PM64 through rose colored glasses. The partners in TTYD actually had personalities and spoke up. Their dialogue actually made them seem like real characters, not just cut outs with speaking roles. Granted, the partners in PM64 weren't terrible, but they never showed any semblance of personality beyond the dialogue they spew once or twice during the chapter you get them in. TTYD's partners are more vocal and actually have motivation for joining you.
