Is this game worse than Sticker Star?

So I understand that Sticker Star is one of the worst games of all time, yes? That it shouldn't even be considered a 'game'? Fine, then. What does that make my game?

I've recently coded Wario Land: 30 Golden Bombs, a bit of a cross between WarioWare and Wario Land in terms of gameplay. I've entered it in the current Mario Fan Games Galaxy fangame contest, and it seems to be doing quite well. It uses the graphics and sound effects of Wario Land 4, along with a few other bits of media.

Here's a screenshot of the title screen: http://imageshack.us/a/img16/1568/0ysj.png

And a bit of gameplay, though this was of a test room: http://imageshack.us/a/img35/3170/2dkk.png

Controls: Use A/Left Arrow Key and D/Right Arrow Key to move, Space to jump, and F4 to toggle fullscreen.

Is it better than Sticker Star?

It is. THAT'S how bad Sticker Star is, it's the only game worse than itself.

Anywho, I'll try it out later/tomorrow TC. What did you make it in?

It's made in Game Maker, but I've tried to ensure that none of the stereotypical "GM game" aspects are in it. There's no default textboxes, default icons, default loading bars, default particle effects, and all the collisions and animations are designed to resemble Wario Land 4. Everything's coded in GML, which is essentially a high-level-but-inefficient coding language. Honestly, I use Game Maker for the interface more than anything else.

Magikoopa Security Force (the game in my sig) is also made in Game Maker.

You know what? This is actually really good, man, great job. Just beat the boss and I can honestly say I enjoyed it more than Sticker Star. :P

[Incoming long post, buckle your seatbelts folks]

I was never a fan of Game Maker myself but I did used to use Construct, which is a similar drag-and-drop type program. I made a Mario World clone with the intention of doing a true Mario and Sonic platformer and it was coming along great, but my ideas would've taken faaar too much time for something I couldn't make money off of. So then I started working on an original game, which I'll (hopefully) start showing off publicly next month!

If you wanna play the old Mario World clone, I tossed it into Dropbox:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19702035/marioworld.exe

The physics are pretty off, so don't expect it to be as good as the original. And it's from nearly 3 years ago when I first started out, I've gotten better, trust me. :P It's got some cool additions though, like walljumping, ground pounding, a hammer power-up, and some gravity powers.

The controls are (pretty stupid, not sure what made me pick these),
Arrow keys to move
A to run/throw fireballs
S to jump
C to spin jump/use hammer.
-- Hold down C to charge the hammer and use an earthquake attack to kill anything on-screen.
-- Hold up arrow and C to throw the hammer, you can pick it up again unless you're small Mario
-- Hold down arrow and C to swing it horizontally to knock enemies into each other. Oh, and if you have a fire flower with the hammer, down arrow and C does a special move

G to reverse gravity, which you can do up to 3 times before landing.
-- Hold down arrow and press G, it'll reverse the gravity of the closest on-screen enemy and send them flying into space
-- Hold up arrow and press G to reverse the gravity of everything on-screen

That was an interesting engine demo. Everything animated remarkably smoothly, and the various abilities appeared to be free of glitches, though the charged hammer attack didn't seem to have a screen-clearing ability. The little NSMBW air-spin was a rather unique addition, too.

And if you want to try a game that was made in more than four days, you can always try out Magikoopa Security Force. It's unfinished, but it has far more content than 30 Golden Bombs. It's a rather nonstandard Tower Defense game that has you playing as a Magikoopa (not Kamek, just a low-ranking Magikoopa) that summons standard Mario enemies to defend a coin block from nonstop waves of Shy Guys. It's also rather unique among Mario fangames by actually being designed for a computer: everything can be controlled with the mouse, with some optional keyboard controls to be used alongside the mouse.

I'm trying to use a very Paper Mario design philosophy for it, so all the bosses are derivative of standard enemies. I haven't actually made the dialogue system yet, so there's no characters/plot within the demo (though I do have one planned out, along with a few NPCs). Half the music is from Sticker Star; in fact, the grass overworld theme and level clear theme are the only themes that aren't from a Mario RPG.

The link to the topic (on a different forum) is in my sig. It's got the controls and a gameplay video and whatnot.

Game Maker used to have a somewhat realistic price, but now that Studio's come out, YoYoGames somehow got the idea that people would actually use Game Maker as a professional game-making tool and deserves a high price.

no one should make a commercial game with Game Maker, ever

it's great for fangames and quick/simple/freeware games, but it's horribly inefficient and improper for real game design

it's like trying to be a professional racer and driving a Toyota
