AmanoJPosted 3/21/2012 8:38:31 AM | Not news to 99% of you, but for anyone who missed it... there is a Journey dynamic theme up on the store for sale, added yesterday. It's nothing spectacular, in my opinion, but you can preview it and see if you like it, of course. It fades between several scenes from the game, with some movement going on in the background. Gates opening, material flying, etc. It doesn't appear to have any unique icons or sounds associated with it, which is a shame.
It is different from the concept art theme that was offered with the preorder, which you can see here (thanks game_dazed for posting it in another thread): http://www.psnstores.com/2012/03/journey-concept-art-dynamic-theme-preview/
I am holding out hope for one as high quality as the Flower one. A day/night cycle with a beautiful scene, or other things. Many awesome ideas. The various chirps and chimes, as well as all the symbols and stuff, would be great mixed in with the xmb icons. Here's hoping. --- Clever got me this far, then tricky got me in. |
KoujaPosted 3/21/2012 8:41:40 AM | Ah dang it, exclusive to PS+ members... |
jerseykid17Posted 3/21/2012 8:42:44 AM | To be honest I am not going to pay for anything on my background though especially after this costs $15. Would have been awesome if they just included it.
Otherwise Ill just grab my backgrounds off of the internet. --- Beast Mode |

No, it's just free for PS+ members. For everyone else, it costs $2.99. --- Byte me... |
KoujaPosted 3/21/2012 8:54:04 AM | Oh. >_>
Uhm...I'll get it, though they could've included it. |
fauxpas101Posted 3/21/2012 9:10:22 AM | ^ They gave away a dynamic theme if you pre-ordered the game or got it before the actual release date. Although that theme is a bit simpler than what the PS Store is selling now. --- Byte me... |
MercuryPSPPosted 3/21/2012 9:28:38 AM | One thing i really love about this dynamic theme is the sounds they added to it. Much prefer the sounds over the default menu sounds. --- PSN: MercuryEQ |
AmanoJ (Topic Creator) Posted 3/21/2012 9:31:55 AM | Ah, there are sounds, eh? I wondered. The preview doesn't do anything to show that, obviously, so it's hard to know. Since the icons weren't altered, I assumed the sounds probably weren't either.
Glad they at least did that. --- Clever got me this far, then tricky got me in. |
AmanoJ (Topic Creator) Posted 3/21/2012 10:03:41 AM | Figured I may as well add that there is also a Journey developer diary video in the video section. Anyone who missed the theme being up might have missed that as well. I love TGC.... they really remind me of Pixar. The Pixar of the videogame world. :P
That developer diary was interesting. Looks like the white robes originally had a glyph set of their own on their chest (from that early version CS at the end). Intriguing that it was changed (at least I think it was... don't recall seeing glyphs on their chests, but could be remembering incorrectly). --- Clever got me this far, then tricky got me in. |

That free theme (and the ability to pre-order) was US exclusive. --- "I want my meals to think for myself" |
