Normally, it is kind of annoying to play a co-op game online when the other player(s) lag behind/goof off while you want to progress, but I have a vastly different experience playing this game. When another player and I happen to meet up and I find myself having to leave them behind, I get a genuine sense of sadness. I will wait in an area that they must travel through sometimes for minutes, waiting for them to finish checking things out/doing their own thing. Many times I must leave them behind, though...
It reminds me of all the people -- friends, family, and other acquaintances -- that I have had to "leave behind" (or have left me behind) as our paths in life -- our Journeys -- separated. One player and I managed to stay together to the end as we climbed the final mountain, collapsing together in the snow. But, even then, we eventually lost each other in the final area where you're flying around.
Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong. -- T. Roosevelt
I get the same feeling from Dark Souls' multi-player. I really like the concept of having multi-player blended seamlessly into the game, without any voice-chat. It pulls you into the world a lot better.
-some possible spoilers-
during my second playthrough i know how you felt because i met a nice player and tried my best to help him/her out and would wait for the person when i got far ahead
but my first play wasn't as delightful when i met other players, generally it seemed like the were trying to take advantage of me and twice i had other players seemingly intentionally lead the enemies in the game right to me causing me to loose most of my scarf....
but it is different in the way that it seems like the other people inhabit the world side by side and probably the best multi-player moment was (again in my second play) when the person i was journeying with and the two of us climbed that last freezing section together just before the last level and eventually both... it was sad

I agree, with both of you actually. I had one who got frustrated with me I think because I couldn't figure out my way around some things and finally just sort of trailed off. On my second one I figured the same would happen as I got caught on a few things still but it was not like that at all, they were VERY helpful, it made it really fun ^_^.
With that in mind, finding the Ancestor is crazy. I don't know how someone was able to do that :3. I still have to do about 60 percent of the tasks before I can just completely immerse myself in the game without having my completest attitude lol :P.
