Skyrim was my 2011 GOTY. But now that I've played Witcher 2..

Skyrim seems so... boring, almost tedious.

I'm still going to get the DLC when it comes out, but right now I think Witcher is my favorite RPG series, and I absolutely cannot wait for Witcher 3.

Apples and Oranges really. I love both games but Witcher II is definitely a more focused experience, which gives it the edge in plot, characters and character development, and dialogue. The combat is better too, IMO, as I like that you have to use your entire arsenal on Dark mode to be truly efficient.

Skyrim, however, wins in the content area. There is just so much to do and so many different ways to play. I love being an Archer in that game and sneaking around, killing enemies without ever being seen. People hound on the combat in Skyrim, but you get out of it what you put in. If all you wanna do is wield a sword and shield with heavy armor, go right ahead, but switch it up if you don't like that. Be a mage, be an Archer, be a Dagger user, hell, you can even be a Pacifist (mostly). I also think Skyrim is more immersive. Witcher II is immersive, but at the end of the day, you are playing as Geralt and it is his story. You can be whatever you want in Skyrim and your story is yours to create. (You should see some of the backstories people give their characters and how they roleplay them.)

Mind you that this is all IMO. I love both games and I don't know if I could choose one over the other. I love them both for different reasons.

Well I don't dislike Skyrim BECAUSE I like Witcher 2. That would be stupid.

However in this case, if Skyrim was an apple and Witcher 2 was an orange, it would be akin to apples being my favorite fruit until I tried an orange for the first time in my life, and while I would still eat an apple over most other fruits any day of the week, I would much rather eat an orange now.

The Witcher had an advantage of a really good story to begin with. Game of Thrones has a good story but for some reason I think that game will be a let down. I would like to see a Witcher series where you carry over that character through several games. When you develope a character like that it really makes it personal. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to make.

I like GoT, but there's too much sex for me. I'm cool with nudity, but when the women look like they do in GoT (with the exception of Daenerys and the Queen, most of them are sub-par looking porn stars), I really don't want to see their saggy boobs.

Boobs or no boobs I dont think the GoT game will be as well done. Maybe its because other games based off of movies/shows have not been that good. This is just my opinion, they might knock it out of the park. I would like to see another rpg with a good story.

Well technically Witcher is an "adaptation" isn't it?

Yes it is. I've heard the books are worth reading but to avoid the show and movie like the plaque.

I also have very little faith in the GoT game. Been reading the books since the 90's, love the show, would really like to see them not screw it up, but I don't want to get my hopes up!

Skyrim is a very shallow experience. Trees are very basic, quests are extremely short and linear, choices have next to no effect, combat is floaty and feels "off".

Witcher 2 is much better as an RPG. From story, to dialogue, to choices and then the gameplay such as rewarding combat and deeper trees than all of Skyrim's 15 or so skills.

Skyrim is essentially the barebones RPG which used hype over everything else to get attention. A lot of people play Skyrim and think they are the pinnacle of RPG players, which is totally wrong. I loved Skyrim for the first 50 hours and that's enough, to be honest. I payed for it and got more than double than what some other games give me. After a very short time you see everything there is to do. Every quest involves going into a practically copy and paste dungeon to fight the same enemies you have fought thirty times already.

Witcher 2 was tied with Human Revolution for my GOTY 2011. In the long run, Skyrim turned out to be a very disappointing RPG which is purely catering to a "wider audience", hence the removal of skills and attributes, choices which don't matter, terrible dialogue choices and so on.

Yes it is. To me it seems to be able to carry the story better than other games based on movies/shows. LoTR games for example (with one exception) have not been that great, nor have many other games based off of the box office. When games are made to cash in on box office/TV popularity they usually fall short.
