I am genuinely finding it hard to believe that 90% of the people posting in this topic are being truthful when they say their first RPG was an early classic. My first RPG was Final Fantasy 8, no shame there. --- ~Don't listen to them- Life isn't too short for anything! There was another topic that popped up a couple of days ago about age and pretty much everyone was 20+.
I think it's simply because there are a whole bunch of us who joined GameFAQs when it was newer but now it isn't so mainstream so it's populated mostly by old fogeys... kind of like real life. --- One decade on Gfaqs and counting.
At the time, I didn't have any English knowledge (first language here in my country is Portuguese), and this was the game that got me interested in learning it. I was always curious about what all those characters were saying, because games at that time barely had any dialogue (the ones I played at least, lol).
I guess it paid off. If I didn't started to like RPG's due to that game, I would have missed on a ton of engaging experiences and I wouldn't have learned English... In fact, I wouldn't be posting on this board right now. :P --- "It's a tradition unique to JRPG fanbases to discuss the virginity of characters." - SetsunaFSeiiei BBCP HYYYYYPE
