Did the English version get the free dlc familiars from the AIO edition? if so, give her the dragon from it. It has good magic/physical defense, and should keep her alive most of the time.

No, we did not get them. :( Well.. some were moved around so you can't get them instantly like in the AIO edition but most were axed.

you can't the ai is terrible.. which is funny because in ffxiii everyone said the ai was terrible and cried about it for years when it was pretty competitent.. but in this game where it's absolutely horrible it gets a pass because it's ni no kuni..

You make it sound like Ni no kuni gets a pass because of it's name alone...sounds like you have this mixed up with any game made by SE.

Try to avoid responding to Vanille. She has never planned to play the game. For w/e reason she just takes any complaints about the game from here and uses them as though they're her own.

I got the 3rd guy too and he dies just as easy, it ridiculous how lame the party member AI is. I mean Esther does like 1 damage and insists on running right up to the guys even when I have her set on heal only and gave her 2 great melee familiars.

still think the game is awesome but these lot or more of a burden then a help, flippin A,.. ohh sh** now I'm talking like The Lord of the fairies

I think VanilleHopen has some serious issues, like he/she/it is holding some serious grudge against Ni No Kuni for apparently no reason. For someone who dislike this game sure hangs around here a lot. Why are you even here? shouldn't you be on FF13 and FF13-2, or FF:LR boards?

IF you like JRPG or Pokemon, go do youself a favor and play Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

theres is no "heal only", there is "keep us healthy". read this as "prioritize healing" NOT as "heal only". she will do whatever the hell she wants , not just healing.

earlier today i posted a 4 page post about my thoughts on the AI in this gamel. i could link it if you want.

Give her Griffy.

Pretty much this, although she will still send out the caster familiar to attack with melee half of the time unless you manually take control.

The AI is generally abysmal in this game, and the only tactic that works is "don't use abilities". That just prevents them from wasting all of their mana on stupid stuff. It still doesn't prevent them from sending out the wrong familiars at the wrong times though. The only way to prevent that is to give them a single familiar. Even then, sometimes the characters will try to stay out and melee attack for no obvious reason.

I don't have griffy or any pre-order familiars, I wish :(

anyhow, i got a new strategy,.. : leader Esther first/cast evade for all party member/run around with your best guy and attack anything attacking your party members ... sad I know but thats the best I have come up with so far

The enemies seem to prioritize whoever you are controlling at the time as well. This is especially apparent on boss battles when you're trying to gain some space.

Put one of the 5k agility badges from the Casino on each of your characters. It doesn't fix anything, but it helps since it increases their movement speed.

I gave her the Hullaballoo (sp?)
the Balloon familiar you can get pretty early on at the volcano area

Level that thing up and she takes no damage what so ever... ever...
