Why is there a merit reward for 20% capture?

#1ChronuxPosted 1/30/2013 6:38:31 AM
Isn't catching monsters supposed to be a time challenging mission? Especially the rare ones?

I don't like how they added a 20% increase rate... can pretty much catch any monsters with a couple of battles, even the rarest one.. so damn cheap.

Obviously don't have ot use it.. but when given a choice, obviously people will choose to use it. HSouldn't have even been in the game.

It adds 20% to the percent they already have. So a 6% monster goes up to 7.2%.

Not gamebreaking in the slightest...

LMAO your math skills are terrible TC.

It increases the odds by 20% from THEIR BASE percentage. It doesn't make a 6% creature 26% that would be a 400%+ increase.

Ignoring the horrible math skills, I'm kinda intrigued by this part:

Obviously don't have ot use it.. but when given a choice, obviously people will choose to use it. HSouldn't have even been in the game.

Why does it matter? There is no online, there are no leaderboards, Nothing someone does in their game would affect you in any way.

lol OP...

yeah it's 20%. You go try and catch any version of Toko with that new 20% chance and let us know how that goes mmmk?

Careful with that boast, I caught both a toko and a tokotoko in 3 fights. He may well catch his very first one and think it means he's right.

Random chance is random.

lol, are you serious? We should have to deal with random grinding because it's supposed to be a "time challenging mission"? This isn't Pokemon, it's not about gotta catch 'em all. The capture rate is way too low, adding a bonus is not only good, but necessary.

Yeah, it's 20% to the base rate.

And even with it that's a breeze compared to the 1/256 chance (or 0.00390625%) chance of recruiting several monsters in DQV, one of which is a Liquid Metal Slime that either dodges attacks or runs away unless you critical it.
Plus you have to kill the monster you want to recruit last, which increases the chance of the one you want running away.

Good times.

Oh *hit,, so it doesn't add 20%?

Wow my mistake then.... I feel like an idiot, guess I misread the guide.

By what the guide wrote... seemed like it added a 20% chance...

So a 1% catch would turn to 21%.. you sure that's not the case?

Try 1.2%.

I also thought that mp reduction cost for skills etc would be 25% or 50%, but no, a 45 mp spell will only 41mp to cast. Big whoop.
