There have always been good Japanese RPGs. The problem is Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy is the flagship, and if Final Fantasy is bad it makes the general public perceive the genre as a whole negatively.
Fire Emblem isn't a JRPG. And people need to stop acting like JRPG's have been nonexistent.
I kind of wish they had been nonexistent for the last 7 years or so, because 98% of them have been absolute putrid garbage. Thank God I had such a huge backlog of PSX and PS2 RPGs to help me survive through this age of vomit-inducing JRPGs. Ni No Kuni and Xenoblade are great, at least.
