The more I play, the more I feel like playing Dragon Quests

And it wasn't just the graphics. The feel of the towns and explorations, and how simple the story proceeds, it really reminds me of the old DQs.
Now, if only this game was just a bit more difficult..

In addition to the DQ series, another game that has some similarities (and is on the PS3) is Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny. It is a Wii port so you can't expect the same quality, but the game is, IMO, very underrated. Action-RPG with monster collecting, questing for NPCs, and lots of crafting. Different from Ni No Kuni in plenty of ways but in general, if you like the feel of one you might like the other too. Similar art style as well.
