I know there was a brief tutorial about it but I forgot what was said.

Defend = High defense window, but high cooldown as well
Evade = Low evade window, but low cooldown as well
Psyche-up = ???

Psyche changes the attack command to go wild which means faster attacks against foes, couple it with war cry or other strength boosting skill and you got a decent physical attacker.

Increases Attack Power by an almost negligible amount.

Fixed that for you.

Yep.

A familiar has only one of either Defend, Evade or Psyche-Up.

Whereas the other 2 are meant to be reactionary, Psych-Up is supposed to be preventative.
It makes it easier to cancel enemy attacks.
...but it's not like a 100% guarantee or anything, and you can still potentially cancel an attack without going wild, sooooo~yeah. Definitely seems to be the least useful of the 3.
