What's your least favorite "generic RPG" locale?

Anyone played Demon's Souls?

Swamps. That game killed it for me.

I have to say that the sewers weren't that bad in this game. but I still hate sewer dungeons, especially if you have to use sluices to open gates and go down ladders to avoid obstacles.

Games with horrible sewer dungeons:
Lunar
Xenogears (omg, thinking about these sewers is enough to give me nightmares!)
Blue Dragon
Radiant Historia
Final Fantasy XII
Tales of Symphonia

Ugh. I remember that dungeon. And yes, sewers are the worst. Usually they have a tedious design with a bunch of doors or gates that you can't pass through. Even worse, is that sewer dungeons tend to have really crappy music that loops in about 20-30 seconds.

This doesn't apply to this game, yet, because I did enjoy Ding Dong Well. But probably sewers. Sometimes they're an absolute pain in the arse to get into, they're often huge and take forever to explore, packed to the brim with annoying monsters and sometimes there's only one way back out, and that's the way you went in.

I lost deserts though, and I love reaching those icy mountains. It makes me feel like I'm on that long journey, and reaching that desert town (especially in Ni No Kuni) feels great. I love that change in the environment. And definitely reaching a snowy area, and getting to that cosy little village.

Overall, sewers suck. Anything else depends on how well it's done. If it's just done terribly, I doubt I'll enjoy it.

Damn I feel like the list of RPGs without any sort of sewer stage would be short

I like trudging through deserts, I like exploring forests, I like scaling craggy mountains, and purifying deep dark tombs. I like long stair cases and hallways that are just long for the sake of being long, I like frightening caves with shiny loot (regardless if the tenants are pirates or dragons or rats or wolves or bears or demons). I like jaunts through heaven and hell, and the stars and the moon. I enjoy all the standard fantasy fare as much as the next place.

I do not, however, like the idea of placing my expensive and hard earned equipment anywhere near rivers of fecal matter. So i vote sewers.
