Is it always a good idea to metamorphose familiars? Or should I keep th 2nd form

I usually metamorphose my familiars immediately after they learn their last learnable skill.

However, are there some instances where it's best to keep the familiar in the 2nd (or even 1st) form. Like, are the stats better in the 2nd form than the final?

You should evolve them when they reach max level for their species.

That's what I was thinking, BUT since the stats reset when they evolve, does it even matter if I evolve them now vs. max level?

It would make sense if some percentage of stats carry over but I don't think they do. (Do they?)

Dang, wasted my time. (Well, no not really) Wish I knew this when I started though, I'm already beginning the search for the 3 gems.

they only carry a very small percentage over though, so the first evolutions carry over is tiny and really not worth worrying about and the seconds is a nice bonus but still rarely worth maxing them out for.

and for all stat/evolution questions you should really check out the spreadsheet here:

generally though, the final evolution will always be the best. some do change to late growth patterns though, so you wont notice the awesomeness till higher levels

It's really not worth waiting. They only get a small percentage of higher stats and its clearly possible to beat all of the stuff in the game without waiting for these max levels. If there were an online battling component or something, and you were interested in that, I would say wait so that you have stronger familiars for that. But there isn't so really its pointless. Why does anyone need max stats for a familiar? So they can brag to their friends? Ok then.

Thanks for the link!

I think I'll just end up maxing the ones I want in end game and evolving the ones that I'm 'so-so' about.

I'm keeping my megalith until it's maxed for sure. That thing's a tank.
