How do DLC familiars compare to in-game familiars?

I've just beaten Smoky Mountain and am currently building up the 5 DLC familiars I got (Golden Mite, Golden Drongo, Golden Hurley, Draggle, and Griffy). Should I be preferring in-game familiars? I've been seeing Little Bighorn and Purrloin a lot in many topics. Are they better than the 5 DLC?

Give Griffy to Esther, he is powerhouse and will be her phyical attacker or pretty much the whole game. Not sure of the others.

I'm not sure about the DLC guys, but man I use purrloiner constantly. He pretty much wins all my battles.

My 2 cents is just use the familiars you think look the coolest. The game is pretty easy, I don't think you need to worry too much about how useful they are (aside from Purrloiner and Esther's default dude).

Monolith is better than hurley imo. Griffy is pretty beast for me still. Also off topic but I love your username.

Griffy so far at 35 hours in is my best familiar. Griffy metas to a new form, he is still more powerful at level 1 than my level 30 in-game guys. Griffy right now does like 200 more damage per attack than anyone and he isn't maxed out yet.
