Just got Swaine, should I keep his Hurly on him?

Get rid of Hurly asap, he's utter trash.

Monkey does the job for swaine early on (You can keep him. I did not). Bonehead started being good around Tier 2 lv25'ish in my game. He rocked with puss while I was getting healed by esther's lumberwood^^

Yeah the general consensus pretty much everywhere is that Hurly is trash. I wouldn't bother with him. Get a Monolith if you want a great tank, or a Bonehead if you want more offensive potential along with general tankiness (he is a late bloomer however.)
