Need help with gear

As of now only my mitey mite has gear and its not even that good. My current set up is the following: Ollie: Mitey mite lvl26 Purrloiner lvl23 Purrloiner lvl20 Esther: Dronglow lvl25 Naja lvl15 Draggle lvl15 Swaine: Goldy lvl21 Bone Ranger lvl24 Thumbelemur lvl23 I have no gear on anyone except mitey mite. I dont know if i should blow all my money away at the shop or wait til i can craft something. What should I do? I tried going to ugly duckling island to grind and i die a lot. I also find grinding to be hard since i use up all my mp to heal my party and there's no stone nearby to replenish it. --- PSN: ShaDoW-SlaYa | |

As of now only my mitey mite has gear and its not even that good. well first off you have no tank. how do you expect to keep the badies off your damage dealers without one? get a monolith, get to 2nd form. get to lvl 7 for youhoo and your set. or you could go with a little bighorn(volcano area) although i have no idea when and if that gets yoohoo. once you have a tank you can get mad gear(this all assumes you just got the boat). goto the sea southwest of spring isles. thats the farthest southwest islands. steal bubble pipes from stressy plessy(used to make the ninnyhammer, best hammer at this point), and beestinger(best spear). also steal the dragon tusk from the snowhawks(best claw at this point). go to shipwreck shore and steal pirate cutlass off flummox florid. best sword you can get at this point. you will also need supple leather(drop from purloiners) and gnome beards to complete the ninny hammer. get gnomebeards from shipwreck shore while you killing flummox florids, or from one of the islands se on the map(thats much easier as the mobs are lower level). that should take care of your weapon needs. as for medals, armor, shields, patches,,, most of those will depend on what you want out of them. most of the good ones are not craftable till you get to hamelin. not sure if you are there yet, also note that stealing from these tier 3 mobs is suicide. how i do it is to put tank on oliver, set esther to keep us healthy, and steal with swaine. as soon as you start toss your tank and yoohoo, switch to swaine and start to steal. esther should attempt to heal oliver. the mobs in the SW sea will aoe the *********** out of you. members will die. but you should be able to steal and flee without any problems. save after stealing something you need. save near shore so when you reload you do not get an instant encounter. heal up between fights with oliver. if you get low on mp and have not got anything quit and reload. if you have got something and are low on mp, goto castaway cove and reload. you can also make eagle eye cloaks at this point. goto sleigh bell isles. the tadabout have the blizzard blooms and the messyplessy have the gustplumes. again the leather comes from purloiner. other armor types i am unsure about, or cannot be crafted/stolen yet. this will take hours but will result in a huge booost to you familiars. the ninnyhammer easily doubled some of mines attack stat. goodluck! | |

1. I didnt think about the inns 2. I got a 2nd form big horn with yoohoo but its low lvl 3. I dont have a ninnyhammer formula I'll attempt to steal those items...these islands have been kicking my *** --- PSN: ShaDoW-SlaYa | |

I didnt think about the inns well your bighorn may not have to be too high level to do its job while you attempt to steal. just needs to be able to take some hits and keep all the mobs occupied. be sure esther is set to keep us healthy as that will have her spam the tank with heals. the ninny hammer formula is bubblepipe X 2, gnomebeard X3. supple leather X3. luckily the pipes are easy to steal. as for the other weapons, they are low steal rate. yeah those mobs are brutal. having 2 thunderheads cast back to back thunderstorms would kill my entire party lol. and the springrays were just as bad. it may take some time so you will have to decide if it is worth it to you. have fun! | |
I haven't attempted this yet but I can finally kill tokos pretty quickly now and grinded Ollie to lvl40. I feel like if i do this for at least lvl45 i can take on some of the islands. My new fear is when all my familiars are ready to go to their third form that they'll be lvl1 so i'd have to go to easier areas and grind there again. Kinda repeating the process once more. Grind til x lvl and move on to grind again. I'm not sure if I want to invest hours into making these items. They could be very useful so i'll try it out but if I can't seem to hold up in a fight long enough for me to steal then i'll give up on it. Big horn is in its second form at lvl30 and has yoohoo. The thing is lets say i pick Ollie and i cast yoohoo and switch to Swaine to steal. What's stopping Ollie from changing familiars? --- PSN: ShaDoW-SlaYa | |
I found the cog thats commonly found around Hamelin to be a good tank. I dropped neolith for it (well i put him in the retreat). I've already morphed into its 3rd form and loving it more. I didn't grind a whole whole lot, but I did do sidequests and what have you. I just put on equips for my main familiars at the stores if they were better at the time. |
