If you refuse to play this game because it's too "immature"

It seems more and more often people are taking more stock in a games aesthetics over it's gameplay style. Years ago a title like Grandia with it's child-like protagonist Justin got praise, and other light hearted titles such as Lunar would also be welcomed. Ni no Kuni however, I've seen many a topic criticize the game because of the lead protagonist being under 17, or not have a more serious and darker outlook on life.

In fact I've seen people admit to enjoying Dragon Quest, Lunar, and Grandia 1 and their more lighthearted adventures and colorful palette but seemingly criticize Ni no Kuni for being the same, it's almost hypocritical to a point or these people have a terrible sense of double standards.

A fan is confident in the game they prefer being able to stand on its own merits.
A fanatic attacks the opposing game showing insecurity in the game they like.

Everything you say and do has an effect on how people view you, what your reputation is and quite frankly if you're seen playing this game as an adult you will not and cannot ever be taken seriously by anyone ever which is something that the game is not good enough to have as a consequence.

...and if you refuse to acknowledge that some people are turned off by the childish presentation, then you too are immature.

Except too many people who are "turned off" by the game have been flaming the people those to do enjoy it. This is the mentality that the TC should have been more specific about.

I don't care if someone doesn't like it, but if they are going to call me a child or claim Chris Hensen should come to my door for playing it, then they need to keep their opinion to themselves.
