Now that we've had awhile to thinkt, is this games combat really that good?

The idea is solid, the implementation needs tweaking.

1.Monster dies you dont change targets automatically, you just waste it.

I was reminded of FF 1 and that game is like over 25 years old.

It's not even really intrusive in this game though. The only times I've ever been annoyed by it were when I was trying to steal, and my move would finish a fraction of a second after the enemy died and would not count the attempt

All it needs is a gambit system similar to FFXII.

Battle system has some issues...

Ex:

1.Monster dies you dont change targets automatically, you just waste it.
2. Enemies only have 1 sweet spot, so if your using a familiar that has low movement and attack speed, sometimes he has to walk around him until he finds a good spot to attack which wastes your time.
3. Cant cancel spells.
4. AI

-Party members constantly go for gold glims when you don't want them too
-You can't use any other actions when you aquire the gold glim
-Monster levels reset when they evolve, forcing you to regrind every time
-You can't lock out certain skills (Olliver wont stop using Ward -_-')
-Having to select each action instead of having dedicated buttons, giving you little time to defend against enemy skills
-Cooldowns on basic actions

The list goes on really. I hate the combat.

Yeah...the battle system is just absolutely horrible and insulting

It's unoriginal, they copied the system from some other games, stuck them together somewhat haphazardly and haven't bothered to spend time polishing it.

But it works well enough for me, I don't have a problem with it.

I find it funny just because people were trying to claim this combat system is so deep and complex when the game first came out, and reviews too, when they complain about rpgs that have actual good combat, yet somehow gave such elaborate praises to this? The battle system is game KILLING bad to me. I don't care about tons of content/collecting/playtime when it's all pumped into this dull waste.
