Just go Flying ability. Are my familiars good enough?

#1Soul59Posted 4/21/2014 6:59:38 PM
Oliver: Mitey, Cutpurrse, Sid
Esther: Gogo, Stranglerfish
Swaine: Hurly, Bone Ranger, Megalith.

I am going to get a Dinoceros and a Lumberwood. Who should I replace on Oliver's team for the Dino?

Esther gets Lumberwood, but are the other 2 good enough?

Swaine I have no idea. The Megalith is ass. I like the Ranger and the Baron is an amazing late bloomer.

Basically I want OP familiars that will annihilate the game since I'm gonna go grind in Perdida anyways.

If you want OP all you want are Dinos and maybe a tank, anything else is pointless. Even the Bone Baron is really outclassed by the Dino.

If you are going for some variety, swap out Mitey for Dino, your cat for the other species of dino (so you can always have one out). Hurly is terrible, so maybe a caster or a healer to balance out that team. Gogo is ok, but a Toko (raised from Toko) or Acee is probably better since you have Parp.

Replace Mitey if you want strictly OP with the Dino. Esther should be fine with the Lumberwood addition, Gogo is a brutal group killer with her AoE magic and Danglerfish is a boss killer with his Special move. Swaine has nice magic casters over at the cemetery near the casino area, almost any of those ghost-like familiars are good, kick Hurly out. Megalith with added offensive magic skill gems becomes a group killer as well on top of being the 2nd best tank in the game.

So like this:

Oliver: Dino, Puss in Boats, Sid/Naiad?
Esther: Gogo, Lumberwood, Stranglerfish final evo
Swaine: Wisp, Bone Baron, Megalith final evo

For variety. I don't want all Dinos. Is this fairly strong or is there other crap than Dino?

Sid has Healing Rain now and once it gets to Tier 3 it should be good for a healer or no?

If you use Dino, everyone else kind of becomes pointless. After you train him, he can pretty much do everything, you won't need other familiars at all. He can attack, tank, and heal effectively. Hell, his attack is such you can pretty much end fights immediately before enemies can even attack, so defense and healing are pretty unnecessary.

He's not the only familiar like that either, but he gets singled out for some reason. It's not even him, really, that's OP, it's Earsplitter. Any familiar with 250+ attack power is godlike with Earsplitter. Same deal with Parp on the magical side, except that all the familars that have it learn it at advanced levels, even Toko, despite learning it at Level 5, because it takes so much EXP to level them up. That, and there's no gem to teach it.

If you're doing it for the S-rank Coliseum, I recommend familiars that know Upsy Daisy and Second Life or some AOE heal. I tried raising a Doc Toko but I caught one early and after all my grinding, he's still not done and teaching him Healing Rain had lackluster results (sub 100HP group heal).

I had a Greater Naiad and an Astralynx that got me through it though there might be better familiars for the job. Lumberwood and Dinoceros are pretty great but even at max level, they're specialty is defense, not magic defense. I was constantly taking 150+ from the magic nuker in S-rank round 3.

@TC when you consider Alltra's advice/pointers always take note that he played the game at very high levels, he over leveled because of love of exploration and use of Tokos later. So consider his stats were not normal, when he says his Dino alone was enough to faceroll things. But since, you are aiming to do the same then eventually what he says will be true for you as well. No offense Alltra, just pointing out something TC might not be aware of.

Everything is mid 50s and at Tier 3 except Catastroceros which is like lv5 and I haven't got a Lumberwood yet cuz it refuses to join.
