They are extremely op and way too hard to block, its too unfair that some people have those chains like Kazuya, heihachi, Hwoarang and Ogre....

you aren't supposed to be able to block them on reaction. You're never supposed to be in that situation. Overheads give certain characters viable mixup.

Oh no, it's so hard to learn how to block.

Kazuya understood because he has 2 50/50s, but everybody else lol.

Learn to alpha counter.

Both Kazuya and Heihachi each have a VERY small window of opportunity in which you can jab them if you successfully block their respective overheads (Kazs seems slightly longer), I've never found Hwoarang particularly tough to deal with and don't meet many Ogres (though he's getting popular). I main King and Abel though, meaning the slightest tap on my opponent easily becomes 300-400 damage with even the most brainless of combos.

In This Topic: this week's session of LTBA. (Learn To Block Anonymous)

Kaz only has one or two combos that even go into overheads. Blocking them is as simple as going from d/b to a hard back when you see slaughter hook coming.

Don't blame anyone but yourself. Instead try identifying popular combos and going with that.

They're actually pretty easy to block....

As a Kazuya main, I can tell you all of his overheads:

He has a 4 string chain which starts with a 1-2 punch to a low kick (block low), and then he has 2 options: 1, go for the "overhead' side kick, and 2, another low kick. This is a true 50/50, but guessing wrong doesnt hurt that bad as you enter a hard knockdown.

He has another 4 string chain starting with a high kick (can be blocked high/low). The 3rd hit hits low, so block accordingly. The final hit DOES NOT COMBO, and is an overhead. If blocked, you can punish badly.

Then there's the staple Slaughterhook. This is highly telegraphed by the initial punch, so block high and PUNISH hard.

The Oni kick must be high blocked. I admit, it is tricky to block this because at the same range, he can sweep you. So this is a difficult block.

He then has 2 standard overhead kicks that can't be comboed into, or comboed out of.

Finally, after a mist step, another 50/50 situation can occur. He can either do a double sweep kick, or a sweep into a high hit. Either way, the rewards for hitting you isnt high as it just knocks down. But if you block right, he is insanely vulnerable to a punish.

Moral of the story, remain blocking low and recognize these overheads. If you stay low, you neutralize his cancellable normals. And thats the real goal against Kazuya.

As far as I know, the first one isn't a real chain. The 2nd one is a 50/50 as it goes low, and then you can go low or high again depending on if you hit lk or lp. The high, LP, doesn't combo, but the LK will, so if you get hit by the first couple hits just block high anyway. All of Kazuya's mixups are pretty unsafe.

Don't forget about H/EX Rising sun, the H version going high, low low with a mid followup, and the ex going high low low low if I remember correctly.

Always block low and react to his highs if you have to guess.
