They should really start doing IQ tests before letting people post here. Read the god damn thread before responding.

k, so Capcom funded it. Big deal.

Not to knock the game or anything, but an 8-bit game using the typical Megaman formula hardly costs anything to produce. People create/animate/rip/modift sprites everyday. This game has been in development way before Capcom even got involved. There really isn't anything to spend money on beyond a bit of basic marketing and some bug testing. If Capcom had actually developed it then it wouldn't be free, but all the work was practically done for them.

It would have been released for free even without Capcom's "assistance".

*sigh*

You should just quit talking. All the work was done? Svenson was approached with a 4 level tech demo. Thats 9 less levels than MM9/10 and 14 less than MM3-6. They were approached with about 1/3 of a Mega Man game by MM9/10 standards, and you know that the levels didn't stay 100% the same. You also HAVE to know that they weren't just going to use the fan engine on an official game. You want an official game to feel as legit as possible, so all of the original work was likely scrapped and the levels redesigned in the Mega Man engine.

Capcom basically funded a full game, all things considered. Yes, an 8-bit title is significantly cheaper than others, but you know a decent chunk was still put into this. The price of developing a game isn't just resources, it includes employee pay too. From the Unity forums....

The reality is, when you tote up the man hours, games cost a hell of a lot to make when you're paying folks going rates for services. Even the really "small" XBLA and PSN games can easily get into low to mid-7 figures these days if you're doing multi platform releases that have online gameplay that's been properly (not even excessively) QAed. And that's not counting marketing.

7 figures. Thats 1,000,000 minimum. You know its less than MM9/10 (unless they ARE planning console releases later) but it still wasn't cheap. People gots to get paid.

Dude, this is nothing. Capcom basically funded for promotion for MM anniversary. How is this any different than what Max did with Assist Me videos, it's not like Max is set for life and made 6 figures.

They probably just gave a little bit of money, mostly like to provide a soundtrack and trailer and gave some feedback. This is hardly a Capcom game. And seriously how much money you think it takes to make an 8-bit game? Seriously.

Capcom funded an 8 bit game that was half way done. There for it's a Capcom game. But by judging by the "The selection of the PC as the distribution platform was fairly simple considering Zong Hui was not a licensed console developer. The implications and costs associated with attempting to arrange that would be incredibly steep." If anything Capcom probably gave enough to say they help fund this game but not enough to have to made on XBL and PSN.

Typical Capcom hype machine trying to spin something in their favor. And saying they "funded" the game and give it free on PC is there way of obviously trying to make some kind of amends for the trashing of MM in recent.

Here is what Capcom could have done that would calm a lot of people down. Donít announce a lot of info on the game, especially the part that it started off as a fan made project. This has gotten many people to believe that it is mainly that. Then release the game at least as a download in a console, and put a price on it. By doing this leads to believing that they put effort into it. Afterwards the people will decide if they got their moneyís worth or not by how the game is like. In regards to complaints, they will always be around (for example to those who favor Legends), since this isnít a Legends game.

Its 2012. If Capcom wouldn't have mentioned the games origins people would have still found out from the YouTube videos that have been up for a few years. That would probably cause more backlash.

Yeah, that sucks. Perhaps that would have caused more backlash, as some people would probably go "Hey! Capcom made their game from this?" But Capcom are adding more into the game, making those vids out of date. I wonder if the people will see that though. Well at least as a remake as to what started as a fan made project.

People that are rational? Yes.

Irrational fanboys? No. They'll still whine about MML3/MMX9, and claim Capcom is trolling them. Again.
