This is at least better than Far Cry 2, right?

| Aidan_Day Posted 10/26/2009 7:43:23 AM | Re: Topic Title, yes, I know that it is. You can glean some measure of this from the countless 9s and 10s this game is getting in reviews. Far Cry 2 was briefly touted as an end-all be-all open world FPS. Once you played it, you realized that linear games like RS:V, Halo, COD, GRAW etc are actually a lot more fun. Is this game as open as that Far Cry 2? Is it less repetitive? I bring this up because no one has made the Far Cry 2 comparison and I wonder why (and I hope this game is a lot better - FC2 was about a...6/10). |
| PipBoy2k Posted 10/26/2009 7:44:13 AM | This game is easily a 9/10 Farcry 2 was awful, 4/10 max --- _|''|_ (p_o) |

| chinoflynn Posted 10/26/2009 7:44:50 AM | far cry 2 was a great game IMO. this is nothing like far cry 2. its a great game in its own right. --- looking for co-op in: GoW, AoT, RBS 2, Mercs 2. invaderflynn is the s/n. |
| VampLordAdamaru Posted 10/26/2009 7:47:19 AM | I hate FPS games. I don't even particularly like the Halo series. I'm officially addicted to Borderlands. (I LOVE IT!) I (quite literally) played it for 10 hours straight on Saturday, taking breaks only long enough to change the loads of laundry I had running. Borderlands is an AWESOME game. It's fairly open-ended, but it does have paths you have to take (mostly). You can't just go anywhere you want, but it's fairly open-world. Definitely would recommend renting/borrowing if you're not sure, but I have to say, especially considering I am NOT an FPS fan, that Borderlands is an AWESOME game. --- Sarcasm: Because even when it fails to hit home, it still makes the target look stupid.-Lucis_Ferre (Founder - IRDC) Waiting for KH:BBS, FFXIII/vs. XIII |
| Kratier Posted 10/26/2009 7:50:15 AM | so far, i would give this a 7 maybe an 8 out of 10 and im a very harsh reviewer, i had a wonderful like 7 to 8 hour play session of this, its very immersive if you get the right buddies to play and level up with, i started at level 1 with 4 guys, we were level 17 by the time we called it a night. great game, lots of stuff to do, just my concern is replayability, seems after you do it once, thats it. |
| notoriousEIC Posted 10/26/2009 7:50:58 AM | I actually really liked FarCry 2, and it got generally good reviews, so I don't know what you're talking about. As for comparing Borderlands to FC2, I'd say the two are somewhat similar. FC2 is far more open-world, though Borderlands has the same sort of level-less feeling. You wander around, fight things, grab vehicles, go back to different bases and resupply, etc. The missions feel similar as well. Go here, talk to this person, go do this thing, kills this person, repeat. The big difference would be in character upgrading, which is far, far deeper in Borderlands. To finish, I loved both games, so take that however you will. --- GT: notoriousEIC |
| Sutton Posted 10/26/2009 7:53:48 AM | Far Cry 2 was not horrible. It's just that Borderlands is really, really... very wonderful. |
| Cramtron Posted 10/26/2009 7:57:02 AM | Far Cry 2 is alright. I just realized that I own that game and have probably played it three times. I just didn't like the feel of the shooting mechanics. I'd take many other FPS-es over FC2 any day. I'm probably going to sell that game and put the money towards Dragon Age, when it comes out. --- Xbox live account: Cramtron ---catch me on CoD 4 and MW2 (11/10/09). |
| SmallMeatBox Posted 10/26/2009 7:58:36 AM | Far Cry 2 was awesome, I put so much time into it. It was a hidden Gem |
