| Apolladan Posted 9/29/2008 12:19:54 AM | After tinkering around for a while, I have fixed all of my stuttering issues. 1. Uninstall your current nVidia display drivers. 2. Install the newest drivers from nVidia's official site (178.13). 3. Go into your nVidia control panel. Make sure you're using the "advanced view." 4. Manage 3D Settings --> Program Settings (it's a tab) --> Add --> Navigate to the WAR.exe file and choose it 5. Turn up AF to 16X, turn up AA to whatever your video card can usually handle. If you're using a LCD screen, turn vsync on and turn triple buffering on (if you're using a CRT, turn both of these off). 6. Keep the texture filtering quality setting at performance. Note: If you see some shimmering in-game and you don't like it, turn the texture filtering quality setting to high quality. 7. Set Negative LOD Bias to clamp. 8. Go into your in-game settings. For moderate/low end GPU, click on balanced. Uncheck lightmaps and specular lighting. For high end GPU's, keep everything on high quality, but turn off lightmaps and specular lighting, and keep shadows on balanced. This fixed all of the stuttering for me, now the game runs smooth as silk at around 75 FPS with 16XAF and 16XQAA. --- E6600 @ 3.4 | MSI P6N Platinum 650i | 4 GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 800 | Seagate Barracuda 320GB | EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB @ 630/1900 | Antec 900 |

| Aevenath Posted 9/29/2008 12:43:22 AM | It helped somewhat. What I found helped the most was upgrading from the beta client to retail. I still stutter a little bit while keeping solid fps when I go into cities/camps, from loading things I suppose. I guess it can't be helped playing at 2560x1600 16XAF and 16XQAA. --- Gamertag: Azareth |
| Animemasta90 Posted 9/29/2008 12:44:15 AM | I will comment on this more whenever I can get ingame... Looks promising, I turned off all the features my gfx card had to offer because of all the stuttering. It looked ugly but ran nicely. If this can do both, I give you +100000 reps. Anyways, we shall see. |

I'm gonna guess the absurdely high resolution you play at along with the AA is the cause of the stuttering. I only have a 19 inch LCD monitor so I play at 1280 x 1024. --- E6600 @ 3.4 | MSI P6N Platinum 650i | 4 GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 800 | Seagate Barracuda 320GB | EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB @ 630/1900 | Antec 900 |
| whizeguy Posted 9/29/2008 12:57:21 AM | The stuttering stopped after I turned off the lighting options a few days ago, but I still get memory lag, as in my framerate drops as stuff is flashed onto my RAM, that's the last performance gripe I haven't been able to fix... |
| Aevenath Posted 9/29/2008 1:02:07 AM | I suppose... but I only get it in cities. Even when I get the stuttering I'm looking at my fps with fraps and it's at a constant 60(because of vsync). --- Gamertag: Azareth |
| Blinckz Posted 9/29/2008 1:30:16 AM | I think you can't turn off specular lights IN-Game and keeping the other things up, but you can do that by altering a document on the game folder ( google it. ) And yes, this worked for me. The only thing is that I like to play with everything on max, specially light effects, so I hope they fix this soon. |
| Apolladan Posted 9/29/2008 1:32:25 AM | To change the lighting in-game, click fastest framerate, then turn up everything except the lighting options. --- E6600 @ 3.4 | MSI P6N Platinum 650i | 4 GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 800 | Seagate Barracuda 320GB | EVGA 8800 GTS 640MB @ 630/1900 | Antec 900 |
