I. What is this?

This is a mini-FAQ that'll stop all topics that are made at least 10 times every day.

II. How will this help?

It'll do the following:

1. Prevent the board from being flooded by the same damn question.
2. Help people get 100% Completion AND get through the bosses most complained about.

III. Why Version 4.0?

More questions came up, so I added them in along with a new section, “Deck Building”.

IV. What to Expect in the Future

More questions, an Equipment Guide, the HP of all enemies, and a Sidequest Guide

V. Bosses

A. Fadroh

People ALWAYS piss and moan about this guy because of the same reason: Orb of Magical Offense. This'll give him an INSANE amount of power and allow him to attack TWO party members. Here's a bit of advice: If he uses the Orb of Magical Offense for his FIRST move, USE THAT RESET BUTTON!!!!! IT EXISTS FOR A DAMN REASON!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, use your BEST Wind Magnus against him (Gibari, anyone?). He'll drop like a sack of bricks falling from the stratosphere.

Another strategy is to level up until you’re at Level 45 or so. Then, you don’t have to worry about Orb of Magicial Offense as you’ll be strong enough to take him out. He has some Finishers, both names escape me currently, but both are powerful and should be guarded against. He has an 80% Weakness to Wind and a 30% Weakness to Light.

B. Giacomo/Ayme/Folon (Goldoba)

Another battle people piss and moan about. Here's some advice: SAVE TO A DIFFERENT FILE BEOFRE BOARDING THE BATTLESHIP!!!!!!!!! This will allow you to level up if needed. First and foremost, take out Folon, since he can power himself up and do some nasty damage. Then go after whoever you'd like, preferably Ayme. Finally, take out Giacomo.

Giacomo has a 50% Weakness to Water and a 30% Weakness to Light. Folon has a 30% Weakness to Wind, a 20% Weakness to Water, and a 50% Weakness to Light. Ayme has a 30% Weakness to Light, and 20% Weakness to Fire, and a 50% Weakness to Chronos.

C. Giacomo/Ayme/Folon (Alps)

Ah, the infamous battle that occurs TWICE. Yes. TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! What you SHOULD do is Class Up Kalas to Class Level 6. Why? Combo of 9 cards is good.......... Just use the same strategy as before. Folon, Ayme, then Giacomo. Be careful, as Ayme AND Giacomo can heal their comrades, while Ayme can boost Defense and Folon boosts Attack. If Folon boosts Ayme's Attack, beware as this unlocks a hidden attack for her: Chaotic Ice. As you guessed, this attack CAN Freeze you. Use Savyna with the Firedrake Barrette to your advantage.

The weaknesses are the exact same as the last battle with them. Also, the first battle will prevent any Spirit Attacks pop up due to the Hypertoxic Soundwaves.

D. Angel of Darkness

Ah, yes, a battle EVERYONE hates. If you wish to prevent the Paralysis he can cause, have a good Paralysis resistance and preferably some Magnus that'll cure it. Also, switch Gibari with Lyude to utilize all his Light Magnus. Beware Fangs of Darkness, as it heals him by the damage you took (a.k.a. Vampiric Attack). This attack does 596 at maximum if it goes unguarded, like if you were Paralyzed. Don't worry about taking a vital damaging turn to cure the Paralysis of a partner, because that's who he'll most likely target for FoD.

This battle happens right after Fadroh, but you can heal and save in between. He has an 80% Weakness to Light and a 40% Weakness to Chronos.

E. Agyo/Ungyo

This is where Savyna SHINES. Utilize that new Firedrake Barrette to avoid the status afflictions that these sphinxes can cause. Agyo, the red one, can boost his Attack, so target him first with your Water Magnus (Savyna and Gibari will have a FIELD DAY here). Also, Pillar of Flames will Burn you, so have a good Burn resistance at hand. Ungyo, the blue one, can boost his Defense, so once Agyo falls, take out your rage on him. Again, Savyna will be the star here. Don't worry about Gibari dealing Water damage to Ungyo. Every damage counts, so the 80% decrease isn't something to worry about. Be cautious of his Column of Ice, as it Freezes you, so have a good Freeze resistance as well. If not, use Crimson Oak Blossoms to your advantage. Be cautious, as both of these monsters pack an attack called A-Un Pentagram, a one-"card" combo that deals 2000+ damage, even when guarded!!! This kind of attack is termed as a "Power Attack". Also, pictures of both are required for 100%, but you can only salvage 1 for profit (both have the same price range, so take whichever you choose).

Don’t let the long span of no-boss-battles in between Angel of Darkness and this one get to you, or you most definitely will die. Agyo has an 80% Weakness to Water, while Ungyo has an 80% Weakness to Fire. As mentioned above, always go after Agyo first, because he’ll more than likely boost his Attack for his first turn.

F. Geldoblame

This guy is INSANE!!!!!!!! His attack Forfeit Your Life.... causes Instant Death, so have a good Death resistance, or have many Sacred Wines ready. Every time it's his turn, before he attacks, he'll heal himself by 110 HP EVERY TURN!!!!!!! This can get annoying really fast, so be patient and use your best Light Magnus. It is suggested to have a Camera in your inventory, as well as having Kalas sit out this battle, all in the process of emptying his deck. Why? You'll see.

Sacred Wines can be made with Holy Grail and Japanese Rice Wine/Sacred Wine. Holy Grail can be made with Monolith Pen and Tri-cresendo Pen. Geldoblame has an 80% Weakness to Light, a 30% Weakness to Water, and a 20% Weakness to Wind (I think those are the percentages).

VI. Pics

A. Bosses

ALWAYS GET YOUR A PICTURE TAKEN ASAP FOR BOSSES!!!!!! The only acceptions to this is Giacomo, Ayme, and Folon, as you'll have multiple times to take their pictures. Still, get your Camera out ASAP.

B. Naiad

This boss is a special case. Either have a Camera in Xelha's deck BEFORE the battle with Geldoblame or have a spare in your inventory. Otherwise, you WON'T get this boss's picture.

C. Zelmer/Ghost Claws/Imperial Soldier/Imperial Elite/Imperial Blackhelm/Imperial Guard/Elite Imperial Guard/Gagarek/Master Revenant

These enemies only appear ONCE. The first two appear in the Portal to an Outer Dimension. The Soldier appears in Rodolfo's Mansion, and once more in the Imperial Fortress (only once though). The Elite and Blackhelm are in Castle Elnath. The Guards roam around Mintaka after Almarde's death up to the infiltration of the Imperial Fortress. Gagarek replaces the Guards during the Imperial Fortress infiltration up to the entrance to Duhr. Finally, the Master Revanant appears on the Phantom Goldoba and they do NOT respawn. Get these Pics ASAP.

D. Mizuti

Mizuti is a special case. For the premature battle with Malpercio in Algorab Village (shortly after the Agyo/Ungyo battle), Mizuti will break her mask and battle maskless (provided she's been battling). I advise that before entering Algorab is to make sure you have all the Cameras you have up to this point in all the decks of the battle participants, and make sure Mizuti will participate. Also, utilize the Save Function on the Overworld Screen (or save at Duhr Port). Don't worry about taking Malpercio's picture this time. You have another chance in the game to do so (although it would be nice to do so now). Now, with every Camera, take Mizuti's picture. This will provide you with Maskless Mizuti and occasionally Mega Rare Mizuti Pic. Amongst the spoils, take the Mega Rare Pic if it's there. It gives major cash. If it's not there, restart and do it again. This is the ONLY time that you can do this.

E. Rare Pics

Rare Pics have a 5% chance of showing up. Each character has one. To do this, put all 8 Cameras into a deck and JUST THOSE CAMERAS!!!!!!! Now, use all the Cameras in a row on a character (using the Pass Magnus you draw to get them) while battling Shawras. Why Shawras? Well, they are the weakest and can do a maximum of 9 damage, meaning you won't die. Be patient on gathering the Cameras. Don't kill off the Shawras (well, you CAN, but leave 1 alive). Using all 8 Cameras at once can give you a 40% chance of getting a Rare Pic!!!

VII. One-Shot Magnus

A. Secret Recipes

All the Secret Recipes appear once. Well, at least 1 of them do. The others can be gotten whenever you please. However, Secret Recipe 4 is gotten by killing the final line of enemies in the Portal to an Outer Dimension with the Goldoba. If you fail doing this, restart.

B. Sun Anklet

The Sun Anklet is a One-Shot Magnus that can be gotten after the premature fight with Malpercio in Algorab. Go to Gemma Village and talk to the guy walking around the stairs (technically, you go to Gemma Village after the battle, so just find the guy). He'll give it to you.

C. Cypress Creel

This card can only be gotten BEFORE the battle with Lord of the Winds. Talk to the Knights on the right before leaving and obtain all the Magnus he's selling. One of them is Cypress Creel, and this is the ONLY time you can get it.

D. Fairy Barrette

The guard in Coriella's Palace on the far left requires Pow Milk Yogurt. Give him some, then leave the island COMPLETELY. Before you go to the Celestial Alps, talk to the same guard. He'll give you the Fairy Barrette.

E. Frost Cap

This item is dropped by Zelmer, a monster in the Portal to an Outer Dimension, a one-shot monster. This just gets self-explanitory from here.

F. Shampoo

This item is technically a two-shot Magnus, as there is two chances to get it. The first is by talking to Maynee BEFORE leaving Cebalrai for Moonguile/Nunki Valley. Once in the Lord's Mansion, talk to Aljeemo, her husband. After the whole Giacomo battle, go back to Cebalrai and talk to Maynee for a Shampoo Magnus. OR you can buy a Shampoo Magnus at the Nihal Desert Merchant before heading out to fight Sowzana. Either way, it doesn't matter how you get it, although the former is preferred.

G. Warriors' Memories

This card is occasionally missed because it ages from Warrior's Mementos, a Quest Magnus that can be given to a couple of people in Wazn. WAIT FOR IT TO AGE AS THIS IS THE ONLY TIME TO GET IT!!!!!!!!!!

H. Auras

These six cards can only be gotten in Castle Elnath, but you MUST defeat each wave of Imperials to get them. If the battle ends up a tie or the knights being defeated, only one word can describe you if you’re a completist: Screwed. I vaguely remember the combinations to defeat the Imperials, so don’t go asking me for them. Instead, refer to the FAQs. They exist for a REASON.

VIII. Other Important ****

A. Last 5 Songs

Leave your Gamecube on for 2 weeks straight while you have a Shampoo Magnus in your possession. After 2 weeks have past, check for a Splendid Hair Magnus. Where'd it come from? Well, Shampoo ages into Splendid Hair after 336 hours of gameplay. What does Splendid Hair do? It unlocks the final 5 songs in your Music Gathering. *goes back to jamming out to Violent Storm*

IX. Surviving in the Field

A. Shish Kebabs

Shish Kebabs come in 4 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and Deluxe. Small replenishes 20% of your Max HP. Medium replenishes 40%, while Large replenishes 60%, and Deluxe fully replenishes your HP. Shops always have at least 2 Shish Kebabs in stock. When you come to a new town, the first thing you should do is “rob” the shop of all Shish Kebabs they have. These really help out when you need more health after a battle. Monsters can even drop Shish Kebabs. To find out which ones, reference sabin01’s Dungeon/Final Deck Guide.

B. Chestnut Truffles

Chestnut Truffle cures Poison, and it can help out since most Poison curing Magnus don’t always work. As you’ve done with Shish Kebabs, “rob” every store of their Truffles. Most stores have 2 in stock. Monsters can drop them also. Again, to find out which ones, reference sabin01’s FAQ.

C. Fruity Gelatins

Fruity Gelatin cures Flames, and it’s a nice thing to have since late-game, you’ll run into many enemies with Flames-inducing attacks (one of the major ones is the boss Agyo). Once again, “rob” all stores of them. I believe they commonly have 1 in stock, if not 2. Monster drop them as well. Oh yeah, if you plan on using Savyna’s Fire Barrette and you un-equip it, make sure you have one of these on hand as the Flames stay with Savyna.

D. Wheat Crackers

Wheat Crackers restores a fallen party member to 5% of their Max HP. That means it won’t be much, but these can come in handy when you need to revive someone. Then you can replenish HP with Shish Kebabs. I won’t repeat what I’ve said in the last 3 sections of Part VII, so I’ll let you guys figure it out.

E. Healing Magnus

Most Healing Magnus rot and become nothing more than weak damaging Magnus and/or Poisoning Magnus. Quickly replace them when they DO rot. Some rot faster than others, and some don’t rot at all. Wonder MOMO, Deluxe Green Tea, and Goddess of Victory are some examples.

F. Best Places to Gain EXP

Early on in the game, any place will be a good place to gain EXP, although newer places are best as the monsters give more EXP. Once you reach Cor Hydrae, there’s a good way to get EXP. The monster Apollion (the monster that resembles Fadroh and Sowzana) gives 15600 EXP per kill. What you do is that once you’ve defeated all five Sibling Gods, fight the Apollion on the first floor, then go to the second floor and fight that one. Rinse, lather, repeat. Also, Apollion may drop Full Apple Pies, which grants its consumer 30000 EXP!

X. Deck Building

A. Kalas

Kalas is the most versatile character with a good mix of weapons element-wise. However, there’s a few drawback to some of his Magnus:

All Chronos Weapons are Combo 2
All Light Weapons are Combo 2 or higher
Some Magnus last for 1 hour

Therefore, Kalas is better off going on the Wind and Dark offense, with your choice of either Fire or Water. Neutral Magnus are musts, as you may have guessed. As for Finishers, use the strongest that’ll correspond with the Magnus you’re using (i.e. Lord of the Wind, Shadow Wings, etc.)

B. Xelha

Xelha is your Black Mage, using all the Spells she has. Be sure to use all LV5 and LV6 Spells you have, and give her plenty of Defensive Magnus, since she can’t use her Spells for defense unlike Kalas. Also, pick your Spells to fit the situation (i.e. if the enemies are Wind-based, use your Chronos Blows).

C. Gibari

IMO, Gibari is better than Kalas because all his paddles can be used for Defense and none are Combo 2. However, the lack of Fire and Chronos Magnus kills him. Therefore, use him in Fire/Chronos enemy battles (Fadroh anyone?). Whether you pick Light or Dark Magnus is up to you, although his Dark is stronger than his Light.

D. Lyude

Lyude is a utility character that you should use only in battles with Light or Dark-based bosses. Having only Light and Dark Magnus to work with, he’ll need to mostly rely on Neutral Magnus or Elemental Item Magnus (Vinegar FTW). He also needs plenty of Defense Magnus. Depending on what element you chose, use the corresponding Finishers as well.

E. Savyna

Another utility character, only this time using Fire and Water Magnus, making her a god against the Agyo/Ungyo Boss Battle. She’s can also be used as a Gibari replacement if you want, and she works well against the Water-based bosses, since she has more Fire Magnus than Water Magnus. Again, use the corresponding Finishers.

F. Mizuti

The Great Mizuti be a White Mage. That’s right, Mizuti’s great Defense and weak Offense makes her the perfect White Mage. Stack her deck with all your Healing and Defense Magnus and you’re good to go! USE HER AT ALL TIMES WHEN USING HER AS A WHITE MAGE!!! YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!!!
