Do they matter? 1. How come I can only choose a few classes to switch to and the rest are '???'? FFTA2, unlike its predecessor, requires you to complete specific quests to unlock most advanced classes. They are as follows: Fighter: To Be A Fighter Parivir: The East.watch Seer: The Cat's Meow Beastmaster: Knowing the Beast Arcanist: The Nu Mou Nobles Scholar: Treasured Tomes Green Mage: Green Dominion Spellblade: To Be A Spellblade Assassin: Veis, Assassin Dragoon: Kyrra, Dragoon Master Monk: Banbanga! Cannoneer: The Bangaa Brotherhood Raptor: Instrument of Inspiration Gunner: The Goug Consortium Flintlock: Of Kupos and Cannons Chocobo Knight:Popocho's Chocobos 2. When do I get Seeq and Grias? Seeq can be recruited at Redclay Pass in the Aldanna Range. Gria can be recruited near Fluorgis immediately following the Airship quest. 3. Assassins are still awesome, right? Assassins are much more balanced (read: nerfed). Their skillset no longer dominates with Concentrate, and their stat growths took a dive as well. Most of the classes are balanced in this game (at least relatively speaking), and you'll find a lot of the strong combos in FFTA are subpar here. 4. I keep killing these bunnies, but more keep appearing! Kill two (no more, no less) and talk to the bishop. And read the quest next time. 5. Okay, the bunnies are dead, but what are these 'green things' I have to kill in the next quest? Out of the three possible monsters, the Malboro are the only green ones. Two servings and two malboros per serving -- thus, 2 * 2 = 4 malboros to kill. 6. What are these tournament things? Tournaments are quests. They require you to fight three or so clans in a row (without free healing in between), and completion of them gives you an Esper. 7. How do thieves work now? What's 'loot?' With the exception of accessories (we can still boots now! Yes!), thieves can no longer steal equipment. Instead, they steal loot, which is what you use in the Bazaar. They can steal rare loot like Low Arcana fairly early on, so its a good idea to have a unit dedicated to stealing if you want to open some rare equipment early. | DarkSerge02 Posted 6/28/2008 7:23:59 PM message detail | 8. I hate the Bazaar -- how does it work? The Bazaar's a nifty change to the shop system. In FFTA the shops would get new equipment based purely on mission count and areas freed, but now we have the Bazaar. In the Bazaar, you browse through the various categories: if one of them has a yellow circle to the right of it, that means a possible equipment can be forged with your items, at which point it would be a good idea to forge that item by selecting the three items that line up and light up. 9. How does experience work? The level cap is now 99 and all units in a battle get a set amount of experience regardless of their actions. The normal amount of experience is 60 (plus bonus experience, which you get for things like killing blows), but it will decrease if you outlevel the rank of the quest. Generally speaking, you'll get a level every 1-2 quests unless you're much higher than the ranks of the quests you are completing. 10. What does the rank of a quest mean? It's a rough estimate of the levels of the enemies in the quest. It also determines how much experience you'll get. 11. Why is my MP 0? MP now starts off in a battle at 0 and regenerates at a rate of ten MP per turn. This can be expedited through quite a few ways: - The clan ability 'MP Channeling' raises your MP per turn to 20 rather than 10 - The passive ability 'Blood Price' allows you to cast spells using HP rather than MP. - The Blue Mage ability 'Matra Magic' allows you to switch the target's HP and MP, giving you a nice stockc of MP. Make sure to heal yourself, though! - Cannoneers, Flintlocks, and Bards all have abilities to restore their allies' MP. 12. How does the auction house work? When can I start Auctions? The auction house consists of two phases: bidding for land and bidding for items. First, you must win the auctions for all territories of an auction and be declared regional champion -- once this happens, you have a chance of being declared champion for life. Once you are champion for life, the auctions switch to items rather than land, most of which being rare items that you won't see in the Bazaar for a while, if ever. Your first auction will be after the quest 'Now Thats a Fire!', and the game will show you through the process. After that, you have 20 days until the auction season is 'finished' and you must wait/sleep 220 days until it starts again. 13. 220 days!? Yeah, but it can be shorter if you'd like. Taking rests at Lezaford's Hut or the hut on Fluorgis' continent allows you to make things go faster: choosing one of the three options makes you pass either 20, 60, or 200 days respectively. 14. What does the MVP statue do? It increases your chance of succeeding at Dispatch missions. 15. What do the Moogle statues near my journal mean? You get a golden Moogle statue for every 50 quests you complete. 16. Who is affected by AP? Your entire clan gets AP, even if they didn't participate in the quest -- but they need to have a piece of equipment with a learnable ability by their class. | DarkSerge02 Posted 6/28/2008 7:25:05 PM message detail | 17. How do laws work? They suck! This is ridiculous! Hey, those last two aren't even questions! But laws have been revamped in this game; if you break the law, the only consequences are that you can't revive fallen party members, you lose your clan privilege for the match, and you don't get the Law Bonus at the end. In turn, there are a lot of harder laws to follow -- you can either follow them and get the bonuses or break them and not. 18. How do I get Clan Privileges? Clan Privileges are rewards from Clan Trials. Here's a nifty table for them (credit to shadowfire9000): | Privilege | Clan Trial | Level | | Power up 1 | Start | N/A | | Power up 2 | Aptitude I | Lvl 3 | | Power up 3 | Aptitude I | Lvl 5 | | Power up 4 | Aptitude II | Lvl 3 | | Power up 5 | Aptitude II | Lvl 5 | | Agillity up 1 | Start | N/A | | Agillity up 2 | Adaptibillity I | Lvl 3 | | Agillity up 3 | Adaptibillity I | Lvl 5 | | Agillity up 4 | Adaptibillity II | Lvl 3 | | Agillity up 5 | Adaptibillity II | Lvl 5 | | Speed up 1 | Start | N/A | | Speed up 2 | Teamwork I | Lvl 3 | | Speed up 3 | Teamwork I | Lvl 5 | | Speed up 4 | Teamwork II | Lvl 3 | | Speed up 5 | Teamwork II | Lvl 5 | | Luck 1 | Start | N/A | | Luck 2 | negotiation I | Lvl 3 | | Luck 3 | negotiation I | Lvl 5 | | Luck 4 | negotiation II | Lvl 3 | | Luck 5 | negotiation II | Lvl 5 | | Empowered Humes | General Training I | Lvl 1 | | Empowered Bangaa | Aptitude I | Lvl 1 | | Empowered Nu Mou | negotiation I | Lvl 1 | | Empowered Viera | Teamwork I | Lvl 1 | | Empowered Moogles | Adaptibillity I | Lvl 1 | | Empowered Seeq | Aptitude II | Lvl 1 | | Empowered Gria | Teamwork II | Lvl 1 | | Regene | General Training I | Lvl 3 | | Regenera | General Training II | Lvl 2 | | Regenega | General Training II | Lvl 3 | | MP Boost | Aptitude-Adaptibillity | Lvl 5 | | MP preservation | Teamwork-Aptitude | Lvl 5 | | Strip all elementals | Adaptibillity-Negotiation | Lvl 5 | | Debuf Resistance 1 | Aptitude-Adaptibillity | Lvl 1 | | Debuf Resistance 2 | Teamwork-Aptitude | Lvl 2 | | Debuf Resistance 3 | Adaptibillity-Negotiation | Lvl 3 | | Debuf Resistance 4 | Negotiation-Teamwork | Lvl 4 | | Debuf Resistance 5 | General Training II | Lvl 4 | | Libra | Have FFTA in the Gameboy slot | N/A | | AP up 1 | Negotiation-Teamwork | Lvl 1 | | AP up 2 | Negotiation-Teamwork | Lvl 2 | | AP up 3 | Negotiation-Teamwork | Lvl 3 | | EXP up 1 | Teamwork-Aptitude | Lvl 1 | | EXP up 2 | Teamwork-Aptitude | Lvl 3 | | EXP up 3 | Teamwork-Aptitude | Lvl 4 | | Gil up 1 | Adaptibillity-Negotiation | Lvl 1 | | Gil up 2 | Adaptibillity-Negotiation | Lvl 2 | | Gil up 3 | Adaptibillity-Negotiation | Lvl 4 | | CP up 1 | General Training I | Lvl 2 | | CP up 2 | General Training I | Lvl 4 | | CP up 3 | General Training I | Lvl 5 | | Maintenance | Negotiation II | Lvl 1 | | Counter | Negotiation-Teamwork | Lvl 5 | |Move up 1 | General II | Lvl 1 |Move up 2 | General II | Lvl 5 | Smash up 1 | Aptitude-Adaptibillity | Lvl 2 | | Smash up 2 | Aptitude-Adaptibillity | Lvl 3 | | Smash up 3 | Aptitude-Adaptibillity | Lvl 4 | 19.
