I'm alsmot done with my first one, i've finished this game so many times on the Snes and Psx but i wanna take on the extra bosses. However, is the 3rd playthrough really that neccessary? Could i beat them on my second?

Also, I wanna give Cecil the Limit break, but everyone says Kain...

You can probably take out the secret bosses on your second playthrough, assuming you got all the good Augments both times through and have set your characters up appropriately. In my third playthrough I didn't use most of the third copies of the Augments I picked up.

As far as Limit Break, give it to whomever you like. People say Kain because he naturally gets Jump, which helps you maximize damage if you stack it with Focus and Darkness. Also, most people use Cecil to tank so don't have enough slots to give him all the Augments he needs to tank and Limit Break effectively. Just keep in mind that you probably want to give Limit Break to someone who doesn't have ???'s Love, for stat maxing purposes.

^You can still stat-max even if you give someone both the ?????'s Love and Limit Break augments. I did that with Cecil in my second playthrough.

I gave Cecil my first Limit Break and still beat both the superbosses in my second playthrough, so it's not like you HAVE to give it to Kain, just some people who think Jump helps them more give it to Kain. To me, it's easier to just Have Cecil do the 3x Focus Darkness Attack/?????'s Love (the Love augment in particular) than Kain Jumping because it takes a while, and it's that kind of time you can't afford later on when one particular boss gets weak enough and starts using attacks that can wipe your party in seconds. It's probably for that reason that Cecil was better for me, with Rydia tanking (since she has little use in this battle without Limit Break), and having Kain just do a normal Focus Darkness Jump combo that could still deal 9999 damage (if any Focusing or Darkness was even required to do so), and then when the boss's HP was low, have Kain Jump just to avoid the boss's super attack and deal a little extra damage on the way back... even though just having Edge Hide to avoid it is probably still better.

Anyways, yeah... since you can fight them second playthrough, and their obscene amounts of HP (especially for one of them), you'll almost DEFINITELY need Limit Break to beat them, but the real best choice could either be Kain or Cecil, either one. Rydia can tank for you with Brace, HP+50%, Draw Attacks, etc., Rosa on the support, and Edge... well, doing whatever. He usually has limited use in this battle anyways aside from stealing and then hiding/Salving Phoenix Downs, Throwing, etc.

'Course, the choice is up to you, really.
