AA doesn't even work for me, so I can't even talk about that. Graphics just completely bug out, waiting on a patch/nvidia fix >_<

But pretty much, just play with settings and see what lets you play at 60 the whole time. Definitely turn off AA first. Then it seems like you should lower slowdown and turn off style filter effects. Then I'm not sure what you could use, play around.

You should be getting 60fps with at most occasional dips into the 50s (if you turn on fixed frame rate, you'll see frame skips when this happens).

If you haven't already, please, PLEASE set your frame rate to fixed before you play any online matches. Everyone else will thank you for it!

Here's the bottom line.

Street Fighter is very frame sensitive. Its designed to be played at 60fps.

DO NOT run this game lower than 60fps!

The reason is it will not play properly.

So dont try and maximize your resolution and play at 30fps. PLAY at 60fps. Set your resolution and graphic settings so that you acheive a solid, constant 60fps with vsync on.

This will give you a better game experience.

SF4 is a split second game where frames are tied to input. If you miss your input window because you had a frame rate drop... your game will not be doing what you expected it to do. This ruins the fight.

Make sure its 60fps.

Then there is the question of the fixed and variable setting.

the Fixed setting will cause input delay/missed inputs if you're getting lower than 60fps.

The variable setting will slow the game down so that you do not have input delay and missed input commands. This however severely screws with the games timing, and will throw off your own sense of timing if you're used to playing this game competitively.

SO...

I think the bottom line here is... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 60fps. That is key.

The game may look better at higher resolutions, but it will not play better. It will play worse. Be kind to your opponent and make sure you're playing with 60fps.

Dwindle, your posts are always deliciously informative.

What he said. 60 fps or nothing.
