After playing the game for the last two days, I thought I'd post a little faq on some of the games good and bad aspects. This article isn't about whether or not the game is good, or "THE GRAPHICS SUCK", so no trolling here, please.

Campaign (Single)
I've yet to play the coop campaign but have played plenty of the Single player. I must say it is very entertaining. I would definitely bump the difficulty up to "Realistic" when starting up to lengthen the game out. The AI has been dramatically improved and you seem to not be killed as much from behind due to your team watching your back.

As for coop Campaign, you can only play up to 2 players.

Terrorist Hunt (Single and Coop)
IMHO, this is where the game shines. In single player you get 2 other AI teammates. same as campaign. You have all of the same abilities as well (tell them to breach, throw grenades, etc.)

Online, the lobby system is great. Once a lobby is created, the host can easily switch Maps, Difficulty, and Enemy density on the fly. Also, once a map is loaded, restarting a match only takes a second. This mode supports up to 4 players.

Graphics
This game is NOT the prettiest out there. But its gameplay smoothness makes up for it. The video options are rather lacking, only allowing you to change Anti-Aliasing, Hardware Skinning, V-Sync, Motion Blur (and quality), Shaders, Aspect Ratio and Resolution.

Controls
Since I did not play R6V1 on PC I'm not sure if there were major control changes.

Basic WASD keys are used along with the mouse.

Right clicking and holding puts your character in cover.

Middle mouse button is your zoom or iron sights.

Spacebar is your action key. This opens doors, push buttons, climb walls, grab ropes, etc.

Q is for grenades, E is for weapon switch. Holding E lets you choose what weapons or grenade types to use.

R is reload and holding R lets you choose rate of fire (also switched with ".") and add a silencer or laser sight.

C is crouch

Z is thermal "heat" vision. (great for smoke)

X is Nightvision

AI Controls
G switches your teams stance (infiltrate or assault)

Spacebar tells your team to move to your cursor. If you're hovering over a rappel line or bomb, your team will climb or disarm. You tell your team to stack up on doors by putting your crosshairs over the door, and hitting space as well. If you're at a door and look at the bottom of the door you can use the Snake Cam, and from here you can tag enemies with "T".

V, B, and N are context buttons that change depending on the situation. If your squad is stacked up (depending on the team's stance), you can breach, clear, and frag. Out of all the controls for this game, I had the most problem with these. Maybe it was just me.

T tags enemies (up to two) for you squad to take out.

Hamachi
If you prefer to play online via hamachi than the official servers, it can be easily achieved.

First download Hamachi (https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=en)

Install and choose "Basic" option (which is free).

Create a network or join one and get your buddies to do the same.

IMPORTANT!!! You must set your "Hamachi" LAN to be priority #1!! Do this by going to Manage Networks and Advanced Properties. Find the list of preferred LANs and make sure Hamachi is pushed up to the top. Then restart your computer.

Host a LAN game or join one, and tada. Hope that works for you.

VOIP
There is no in-game voip, but use a program like Teamspeak or Ventrillo and you'll get much better results than any in-game VoIP i've ever used.

That's all I can think of, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to post. Thanks for your time!

Also our Hamachi R6V2 server is:

name: zuffdaddy
password: pass

Feel free to join up and frag with us.

Of course! I can't wait to play versus! :D

I understand your stand on "piracy" as you put it, but if you ask me I'm renting it. And this is a company's best shot at me buying their PC game.

Thanks for this post, I think I'm going to pick this up now. I just have a question for you. In terrorist hunt mode, are the positions of the terrorists random like in the old Rainbow Six games? Or are they the same every time?

What about face mapping? Can you explain a bit?!

I would like to ask you about your hardware, what graphic detail level/resolution etc. (ingame) do you use and how many fps you get overall. Do the game plays smoothly (you mentioned it does), do you encountered any stuttering or other hardware problems.

First Vegas is poor port, my comp spec is far better then recommended one, but yet its barely playable on highest settings. I have to lower some options down to get smooth gameplay.

"In terrorist hunt mode, are the positions of the terrorists random like in the old Rainbow Six games? Or are they the same every time?"

Yes they are random. Sometimes they will spawn in ridiculous places though.

"What about face mapping? Can you explain a bit?!"

No Face Mapping in site. But then again, they may add that in the future.

8800 GTX 768MB
2.4 Intel Quad Core

I get a constant 50+ fps. I do notice some screen tearing without V-Sync enabled but enabling it does throttle my fps a bit.

I haven't had any problems with it except some random and rare crashes that I would blame mostly on Vista than anything else.

Hardware skinning lets your GPU handle the skinning instead of CPU.

At least in first Vegas.
