I'll be frank; this is not a walkthrough. This is but a topic compiling information on Mugen no Frontier's gameplay; a place to come to if you don't understand something. Post any questions you have here, and I will do my best to help. Anyone else is also free to contribute. Be forewarned, however, that some of this information may still be wrong, however I'll denote those with (?) beside them.

Practice: You will be brought to a battle screen after you have selected this option and the weight you desire. The enemy will be some sort of green machine, and will not attack. It will regenerate its HP completely when it reaches its turn. Practice your combos here.

Organizing Attacks: This also pertains to the battle menu's organizing attack screen. After selecting the ability menu, you will be shown a character's current attacks. By pressing A and selecting one of the attacks, you will be brought to a screen where you are show the 5 attacks your character will use, in order, when you attack. Change and order your attacks as you wish.

MUGEN NO FRONTIER: SUPER ROBOT TAISEN OG SAGA BATTLING:

Buttons:

A: Attack
B: Cancel
Y: Activate Special Attack/Hissatsu Waza/Ougi (Nothing, as far as I can tell)
X: Menu
L: Guard
R: Quick Status

The touch screen is not use at all, at any point the game. In fact, it is unusable.

Attacking:

Press A to initiate attack mode. Press B to cancel/finish attacking.

Attacks are interruptable. Time your attacks to increase damage output.

You have no time limit during attacks. Feel free to take your time.

Rapidly pressing A needlessly will only serve to waste your attacks.

You are unable to continue attacking the last enemy, if the enemy has been defeated.

Chain Attacking:

During attacks, you will notice a face in the bottom right corner of another character. This face is the next character in line to attack. You will not be shown a face if there are no usable characters left, or if it will be an enemy's turn after your current character's turn. While you are attacking, WAIT will appear over the face. However, pressing RIGHT (not left. not up, or down, but RIGHT) at any time that WAIT is not over the face, will initiate a character switch. This is a Chain Attack. This will call out the character depicted it in the bottom right corner to replace your current character and continue your combo. This can be used in succession, as long one of your characters is next and has yet to attack.

Support Attacks:

When you have 5 or more characters, pressing LEFT while in battle will activate a Support Attack, allowing a character in the back to attack alongside your current character. Doing a support attack will net you 5% on the F-Gauge, but it will use up 5 SP.

Hit Combo:

Displayed above the HP bar, this displays how many hits in succession you have done without the enemy touching the ground. This will continue to increase so long as the enemy does not touch the ground, even if the enemy has no more HP. Exclamation marks (!) indicate that the enemy has touched the ground.

Combo Meter:

This meter is what allows you to keep on attacking. You'll notice that every attack you do consumes some of the bar. Each attack uses up some of the combo meter (hereby now referred to as COM).

For example, by default, Haken's first attack uses 25% of his COM meter. His second attack only consumes 10%. And by default, the attacks alternate, allowing Haken to use 95% of 100% COM, resulting in 5 attacks.

5 attacks is the max a character is allowed to attack every turn, no matter how much COM he/she has left, provided he/she has enough COM to initiate all 5 attacks.

COM% will regenerate once it is that character's turn again. ie, Haken has 0%, and he has just finished his turn. His COM will remain 0% until it is his turn once again.

Using a Chain Attack will count as though it is now the next character's turn, and his/her COM% will regenerate as normal. However, Chain Attack also gives a bonus 20% COM to the meter.

F-Gauge:

This gauge fills during the course of battle. When this is full, pressing the Y button will initiate a Special Attack. Will not work if the last enemy has just been killed.

The bar will NOT carry over battles, and will reset when you've finished a battle.

Ways to Fill up the F-Gauge:

-Attack and inflict damage. Missing will not count.

-Being attacked and taking damage.

-Kill Bonus. Whenever you've killed an enemy, you gain 1/10 of your Hit Combo as F-Gauge %.

-Chain Attacking will give you a F-Gauge bonus of exactly 10%

-Support Attacking.

-Cancel Bonus.

-Spells/Items that increase the F-Gauge.

Cancel-Bonus: (Also known as C-Bonus, for short)

Interrupting your attack during certain points will lead to a Cancel Bonus that gives you more F-Gauge points than you would normally receive, allowing you to quickly fill up the F-Gauge faster than normal. They are always at the same point during attacks, and will always give the same amount of F-Gauge points.

Cancel-Bonus Points:

As of yet, still incomplete. Only contains the first three attacks for Haken, Aschen, Kaguya and Suzuka-hime. The attacks are listed in the order they appear in the menu, and lists the amount of F-Gauge % they add. Interrupting the attacks at these points will guarantee you a C-Bonus, but they aren't restricted to immediately at that point. Please feel free to contribute to this list.

Haken:
Attack 1 (25% COM): After he does his back slash, which happens after he shoots the enemy. 8% F-Gauge points.
Attack 2 (10% COM): Right after you start this attack. Just press A immediately after you start the attack. 10% F-Gauge points
Attack 3 (10% COM): When he finishes his downwards crescent slash. 9% F-Gauge points.

Aschen:
Attack 1 (15% COM): As she ends her high kick, which leaves behind a green aura. 10% F-Gauge points.
Attack 2 (10% COM): As she finishes her back kick, and her foot touches the ground. 8% F-Gauge points.
Attack 3 (30% COM): As soon as she hits the enemy with her knee. 15% F-Gauge points.

Kaguya:
Attack 1 (20% COM): Around the time she flashes after her little pause in the air. 13% F-Gauge points.
Attack 2 (15% COM): Right before she lands her down-slash. 10% F-Gauge points.
Attack 3 (10% COM): As she pulls her sword back from her 3rd stab into the air. 9% F-Gauge points.

Suzuka-hime:
Attack 1 (15% COM): Anytime from when Jyaki-GUN-Oh punches the enemy and shoots into it. 9% F-Gauge points.
Attack 2 (10% COM): After Jyaki-GUN-Oh launches its missiles. 9% F-Gauge points.
Attack 3 (20% COM): Just before Jyaki-GUN-Oh lands. 8% F-Gauge points.

Advice Regarding Cancel-Bonuses:

The timing for some of the C-Bonus aren't very strict, and you don't have to press it immediately at the point I've listed. Some points will allow you to press a few hits after. However, some of the points are really strict (Attack 2: Haken, Attack 3: Aschen, Attack 1 & 2: Kaguya and Attack 3: Suzuka-hime come to mind) and the timing must be gotten just right, or chances are you won't get the cancel-bonus.

And there's no need to always go for cancel-bonuses. You could let the attacks play out for more damage, rather than interrupt them. Go for combos that you feel comfortable with.

Enemy's Guard, Force Evasion and Counter:

This is a game mechanic that only enemies are able to do, excluding guarding. Bosses more often will use this. There is a chance that this will happen if the enemy has landed at any point during your combo.

Guard: The enemy will block your attacks and your damage will be dramatically reduced. Continue attacking to eventually break the enemies guard. Combos will not count if the enemy has guarded the attack.

Force Evasion: The enemy will dodge, and you miss the rest of your attack at that point, and be unable to continue to attacking, effectively ending your combo.

Counter: Just as it says, the enemy will counter-attack you. This will also stop you from attacking, ending your combo.

That's all I can think of right now. Credit for some of this goes to Gespenst0Kick, Lanthos and akwan_tarot. Once again, feel free to contribute.

I got Reiji's C-bonus down, but can't figure out Xiaomu's C-bonus. Oh well, here goes:

Arisu Reiji's C-bonus
Attack 1 (Flame sword) : Between the fourth and fifth slash
Attack 2 (Handguns) : Before the final shot, when he aims the two guns upwards
Attack 3 (Lightning sword) : Same with attack 1, between the fourth and fifth slash.

Suzuka- 4th attack 20% (jyaki-Gun seal break) - Immediately after you execute it, so essentially tap A twice as fast as you can. +20 f-gauge
I tested setting all attacks to this one and just pressing A repeatedly 5 times, and yes it gives you an instant 80% f-guage.

Aschen- 4th attack 25% (Demon's Lancer) - During the launcher kick after the rapid kicks. +8%

Harken- 4th attack 35% (Five Stud) - Right during the last hit, before it knocks the enemy to the wall. Timing is precise, the full blade must be out. +13%

Hah, I forgot to mention this. Though, I'm pretty sure mostly everyone knows this, it nevers hurts to post it.

Bonus EXP:

When you finished a battle by killing the final enemy with either a Chain Attack or a Support Attack, you will receive an EXP multiplier.

Chain Attack: x1.3 EXP

Support Attack: x1.1 EXP (?)

Whether or not these bonuses are able to stack is unknown. (I'm unable to test this right now; I only have 4 characters, though I think I'm going to get Reiji and Xiaomu soon. Anyone else up for testing this?)
