Gauntlet
Review by samthebigkid
"Some fun times here"
I used to play this game when I was about 5. Before the Super Nintendo, all I had was a good old Commodore 64. 64k, these days there are .GIFs larger easily larger than that. But Gauntlet was one of my favorite games. I would play it a lot. I never got real far, but these days it's nothing. As you may know, Gauntlet was an arcade game as well, then a newer arcade game, an N64 game, and now a "Next Generation" game as well. This though is the original version. Before graphics were a factor in games, this is how they were and this is the story about Gauntlet.
Graphics- Considering the times, they were okay. They aren't great but not bad. I mean the characters are pretty easy to recognize. The enemies are easy to recognize as well. The projectiles and such are okay. The text is pretty clear. It's super awesome but it's not that bad.
Sound- Good. I mean the music isn't that bad when it's there. The projectiles have their classic "boop" noises, as being that's best way to describe it. There really isn't much sound, like in most older games.
Game-Play- Original, Very Original. The story is: Some bad wizard is being bad and send you into these odd dungeons. Basically the game is never-ending. It's all an overhead view. You select either the Warrior, Archer, Wizard, or Cleric. Well you go through levels, finding keys and such to open doors, all in the ultimate goal of complete the level. You get only so much health. You also have about three lives. You can also pick up health. If you lose you can continue, but you only get three of those too. enemies vary but come in massive amounts. The game can go up to two players. The problem is fighting over items an also the game is one screen so you both have to go the same way or no way at all. But overall it's fun.
In conclusion it's a fun game. I really have no idea how other than maybe Ebay where you could find this game. It can't be too expensive. For being very repetitive but very fun, I give Gauntlet for Commodore 64 an 8/10.
