//I.-Introduction://
After a wait of two long years, The King of Fighters has finally returned. With
the new installment dubbed 'The King of Fighters: Episode XI', it continues on
where KOF 2003 left off. It still follows Ash Crimson as the new hero of the
saga and also introduces the appearance of brand new characters: Oswald, a
mysterious man of Karnoffel fighting style; Elisabeth Branctorche, a lady
hailing from France that wields the power of light and Momoko; a young new
addition to the Neo Psycho Soldiers Team. Also, this year has brought to the
series Duck king from the fatal Fury series and Bonne Jenet from Garou: Mark
of the Wolves. Reappearances also occur from Eiji Kisaragi, Kasumi Todoh, Kula
Diamond, Vanessa, Ramon and Sie Kensou.
But alas, this FAQ has been created for one of the new features added to the
King of Fighters XI, that is, the Dream Cancel. This new feature has allowed
the new chances of more damaging and lengthy combos and looks (and is) very
promising. More on Dream Cancels later.

Hello, my author name is shen_VS_galford, but my real name is Kenneth
Macrohon. I was born in the Philippines in Cebu City, moved to Manila and
recently moved to Sydney, Australia. Just finished year 10, I am admittedly
a fan of KOF since a friend introduced me to it and one might suggest I am
obsessed with it. Well, I don't mind- gets me through school holidays.
Well writing a FAQ has been an inspiration from works of one lovingly missed,
great FAQ maker, Kao Megura a.k.a. Chris McDonald. This FAQ has been dedicated
to him. Having not met him personally when he was still doing great works, his
works are superb and only hearing of him after his passing has inspired me
greatly to do a FAQ of my own. So may you soul rest in peace.
This is my first ever FAQ so if you kindly post any comments, corrections or
sunmissions it would be very much appreciated- any help is appreciated. Please

//V.-What are Dream Cancels?//
The Dream Cancel will play an important role in this game once you know of it.
Basically the Dream Cancel is the ability to cancel a DM (Desperation Move) of
a character into that character's LDM (Leader Desperation Move).
Dream Cancelling costs 1 Skill stock (found in the Skill Meter Gauge above the
Power Meter Gauge).
Combine that with the 1 power stock that you need for a DM and the 2 power
stocks you need to execute a LDM and it really costs 3 power stocks and 1
skill stock.
It brings a new dimension to this game and adds a fun deal to battles. So, next
up, the Dream Cancels! (drum roll)

Notes: Well...fair enough. Cancel Pluviose to the motion of Ash's LDM can be
tricky for some people. It's not really very useful. Mind you, Sans-culotte is
not the best LDM. Sure you can just do Ash's moves (Ventose- b_f+P and Nivose-
d_u+K) without charging and you can gain access to Ash's new sealing move
Germinar (qcf, qcf+E anytime while Ash is glowing) but that's it. Then again
Ash is not a combo character either.
DC Rating: 1/5 -Don't bother trying to Dream Cancel. Just a hassle. Super
Cancelling his Vendemiaire (close, hcf+C) is much more the way to go.

Notes: Now after a poor start to this FAQ, here's an excellent Dream Cancel!
Not only do Oswald's DMs look cool, they also can be very damaging. I mean
Joker by itself does 52 hits normally. imagine the possibilities! Very
straightforward.
DC Rating: 5/5 -Uh-huh. You've heard me. One of the best examples of the DC
usefulness. Very combo friendly the chain is. ;)

Name: Shen Woo
Fighting Style: Stegoro (Slang for Unarmed Brawl)

DM: Tatsu! Geki Ken (Die! Violent Fist)-qcf,qcf+P

LDM: Bakuten (True Explosion)- C,A,B,C very quickly
Notes: If people are having trouble executing the LDM command you can hold C
for a while and then quickly tap A,B,C. Once you DC though, Bakuten will never
hit. It does however get rid of the delay before the LDM. And at least you
get nearer to the opponent automatically after the power boost.
DC Rating: 2.5/5- it's a quick way to recieve the LDM power boost, but you'll
never get the chance to hit the opponent with the LDM though. (Shame, on
counter the LDM will take out 80% of the life bar) So its 50-50 for me.
Dream Cancel:
DM: Torahyou Rengeki (Tiger Panther Super Party)-qcf,qcf+P (1st-3rd)

LDM: Bakuten (True Explosion)- C,A,B,C very quickly
Notes: This particular DC is much better. Longer DM animation her so you can
DC easier. DCing this way can let you reset and make your combo longer (but
still the aura doesn't hit). One combo you can do is:
hcb,f+C(SC)-->qcf,qcf+K(DC)-->Tap C,A,B,C-->C,f+B-->qcf,qcf+P
This already does 40% damage with the boost. And do whatever with your
remaining power boost.
(Thanks to Kamikaze NOW for the combo and whole info on this)
DC Rating: 5/5- Much, much better. Still a shame LDM won't hit, but the
possibilities cover that up. Wow....go Shen the powerhouse..

Notes: IMPORTANT. This particular DC NEVER hits if you're not in the corner.
If done anywhere but the corner, the LDM will miss. So it is important to
corner the opponent before DCing with Elisabeth, because if not the opponent
wil fly away from you.
DC Rating: 2/5- Well I don't really see the point of DCing with her unless the
foe is cornered so yeah. Got nothing else to say really.

Notes: Its very useful. Unlike 2003, there are more shadows in the LDM than
usual, allowing more hits and opportunities for more hits. This is a good way
for lotsa hits.
DC Rating: 4.5/5 -Can open many hits and combos. Also can make way for a
possible infinite.

you want to travel and damage him.

DC Rating: 4/5 -Good to DC if you want to pull out his LDM. Sneak this in
comboes and it's fine sailing.

Notes: Same deal here. You don't to worry about being close in air plus by

much hits to DC with.

DC Rating: 5/5- Pretty much easy, DM then DC to a counter-turned-grab LDM.

Notes: With this you travel nearer to your opponent with Phoenix Fang Arrow

Notes: Well this is a nice touch. Kensou's been majorly overhauled this year.
Normally, his LDM would release a ground fireball and it has to hit before Sie
can get his power boost. But with the whole DCing thing, you don't have to
worry if the fireball will miss. It'll just hit and you get your power boost.
Nice.
DC Rating: 5/5 -Very useful. I'd add more points for the power boost, but I'm
trying to be fair. :D

Notes: OK, basically what her DM does it she grabs the opponent then launches
him/her upwards. DCing to her LDM makes her launch out a HUGE psychic laser.
This is one of the most basic- if not the most basic- DCs out there.
DC Rating: 3.5/5 -Well it's easy to pull out. I say if you're new to DCs, use
this one as your 1st lesson.

Notes: Yeah, pretty combo-friendly DC chain here. What her LDM does is that
Vanessa glows and has the ability that is pretty much Max Mode from 2002- in
which she can cancels her attacks to other ones- even if not normally. If you
DC again to Puncher Finish, she does a finishing move. DCing it is the ONLY way
to perform Puncher Finish. (Hmm..the makers know how to advertuse DCs..)
DC Rating: 4/5 -Pretty combo friendly, plus allows a max mode Vanessa- which is
pretty dangerous.
DM: Crazy Puncher-qcb,hcf+P (2nd-10th hits)

Notes: More combo friendly than the last one- its cause basically there's more
hits. For explanations of her LDM and Puncher Finish see above.
DC Rating: 4.5/5 -More dangerous than the last one. Pull it out when the foe
doesn't expect it- in a killer combo preferably.

air.
DC Rating: 2.5/5 -Eh, waste alone. Not even very useful.
