"Another mediocre sports game by Midway."

NFL Blitz is a mediocre game for those who like sports. Football fans will probably enjoy it, but I doubt any non-football fans will. Overall, this game is average but definitely hasn't been passed by its sequels, which are even worse. Although, if you're feeling angry and feel like pounding football players down, this is the game for you.

Graphics 3/10: The graphics are atrocious! I don't see how anyone can even stand 2 minutes of playing thia game. The characters are unusually blocky and look horrible. The only thing that looks 'okay' are maybe the Midway logo when you start up the game. Other than that... ugh.

Music/Sound 4/10: The music is almost non existant in this game unless you count the cheering of fans in the background which sounds horrible. The sound of the football players are ok though. when you tackle someone or push them away there will be a loud grunting sound and a shout of pain. Very satisfying.

Control 7/10: One of the average parts of this game. Like almost all arcade games, the controls are easy to use. You got the joystick and the pass and tackle button. The only major flaw here is probably the passing part. You have to move your joystick from left to right to choose what player you want to pass to, which can be a pain when the defensive line is breathing down your throat and you have no where else to go.

Gameplay 8/10: Another decent part of this mediocre game is the gameplay. The single player mode is pretty boring, since you're playing against a computer. Although the AI is pretty smart, since they'll take any chance they have to pass the ball to an open person. The best part though is playing against your friends! Nothing like intercepting the ball to make your friends angry. Or maybe creaming them 63-0. Although this game has horrible graphics and sound, the gameplay makes up for it, and everyone knows gameplay is the best part of any game.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This game is a good game to pick up at any time when you've got some time to waste or have nothing better to do. Not a good idea to invest too much time in this game, seeing as it's at least 10+ years old now, and no one will really want to play it with you.
