Warrior Blade: Rastan Saga Episode III

Review by JDeLuna

"It's Golden Axe on steriods..."

Close your eyes...wait, if you close your eyes you can't read this. Nevermind. With your eyes *open* imagine Golden Axe. You remember that game. After picking one of three characters you embarked on a long, medevil journey. Which basically meant you walked along, bashing ogres the entire time, and loving it! Now, take Golden Axe and make the characters and enemies THREE times as big. Add better, more diverse enemies. And buckets of blood. Sound good?

CHARACTERS: Well you get your pick of three warriors. But unlike Golden Axe, these people ROCK. There's a ninja-type, complete with double daggers. Your standard Conan-wanna-be, complete with big ole sword. And best of all...a whip-crack'in vixen!! A hotty into whips!! Truth be told, she's the weakest of the three. But who cares? ***1/2

GRAPHICS: Warrior blade was made in '91, so you can expect standard, 2-D beat-em-up fare. The frame rate is decent, and the graphics have just enough style. But what makes it come together is the SIZE of the sprites. Everything is HUGE. The game is so big it's on THREE monitors. How cool is that? ****

SOUND: Painfully bland. Especially considering how good everything else is. Generic is the best description. *

CONTROL: Very solid. And a direct Golden Axe rip-off. Nothing innovative, but everything works *well*. ***

REPLAY: Not much. It's an arcade game. You beat it, you leave it. But the first time through is a blast. *

So overall this gets **** out of 5. It's definately better than Golden Axe. And it's pretty much a bigger, better version of it. Definately recommended if you like this genre.
