LadyBug

Review by Doctrine Dark

"Umm I' ll just stick with Pac-Man."

Ladybug, never heard of it well join the club because I' am sure not too many people have heard of it. Well for those who don't know Ladybug is much of a knock off of the arcade classic Pac-Man. There are some minor changes in this game to fool you into thinking it is original like the swinging doors, the death balls that could kill you,and no warp areas in the maze but trust me it is a rip off and it suprises me that Namco didn't sue these guys. Let us move on.

Graphics
The graphics are what you expect from an early 80's arcade game. Ladybug does not look too much like one instead he(or is it a she) looks like an orange sphere. The mazes look like they were taken right out of Pac-Man and it's not even funny. The graphics are okay for an early 80's game I will give it that.

Gameplay
Remember in the Pac-Man games that you had to gobble down dots(or fruit if you are referring to Super Pac-Man) well guess what you do the same thing here. There are swinging doors here to get into certain areas but that's only an afterthought. The one thing that was challenging about Pac-Man is that you are moving automatically and you had to control Pac from running into ghosts. That concept is not in Ladybug and if you don't move him he just stays still removing any challenge that could have been in here. Also when you die it takes so long to start up again(It is funny seeing Ladybug get hit and you see him flying toward heaven like an angel but it takes so long for him to get there).

Music
Nothing to write home about really. Just simple sound effects and 4 second long music scores you know the usual coming from this kind of game.

Control
The control is pretty much just a control pad and a button to swing open doors in the maze. I wish Ladybug would go a little quicker though I mean he is almost as slow as Jabba the Hutt on a big piece of fly paper and because of this it takes long to finish levels. But then again I don't know too many ladybugs that move quickly.

Replay
This game does have replay value....well for a little while. Sure you could play it a little more to get used to the swinging doors but it is really not as fun once you play it longer.

Final Word
Ladybug while fun for about 30 seconds does not really have a lasting impression and is a pretty example of an early 80's video game. If you see it go ahead and try it if you want but after that forget you even played it and just stick to Pac-Man.
